Why You Shouldn't be Rude to a NSA

I got a call from a SS a couple of weeks ago to do a signing for them. After I told her what my edoc fee was she yelled at me saying "that much for only 35 pages!?" and then she hung up on me.

Not that I have to explain myself to anyone but I do service some very rural areas that no one else will. A lot of country roads can make a 30 mile trip into an hour drive so sometimes I have to adjust my fees accordingly to make up for all the time I have to tie up for that one signing.

Well she called me back again just now asking me to do a loan mod. for her. I wanted to say no right then and there because of how rude she was the last time she called but she seemed a little more desperate this time and next week is kind of open for me so I did a quick check in Signing Central while on the phone with her and found them to be a bad one to do business with. So with that and how she treated me last time I politely declined.

I know some SS seem to think we are a dime a dozen and there is always a NSA willing to do your bidding just a phone call or three away but eventually you may have to call that NSA that services some very rural areas and unless you are willing to pay a lot more $$$ for a different NSA that does not normally service that area or tell your customer that you can't find a NSA to cover that signing then BE NICE! I'm always nice even if I don't want to do business with you because you have a bad rep. on the notary sites.

Just needed to vent. Thanks

Many times I take comfort in reminding myself that "What goes around comes around".

And Vice Versa. If you get an offer of an assignment..

at a price that you are unwilling to accept , or from a company for
which you do not wish to work, it is not necessary to be rude to the
scheduler or to laugh at them. Remember, they are generally employees and
do not set the prices that they are told to offer, nor are they responsible
for slow or non-payment of NSAs. First and foremost, the are fellow human
beings, and should be treated as such.
Furthermore, they may leave the employment of the "bad" company, and later
go to work for a "good " company. Which NSA do you think that they would be
likely to call for NSA work, the one who teated them with respect, or the one who
treated them like dirt??

Re: And Vice Versa. If you get an offer of an assignment..

I typed almost this same message a week or so ago when someone posted how they laughed and hung up on a scheduler. I deleted before posting (as I do SO often) because I assume any longer that advice like this is considered "mean" so let them learn on their own what many of us who have been around for a long time figured out years ago. I cannot begin to count how many individuals I "know" in this business who have transferred jobs 3 or more times ... and every time I get a call from them at their new company and pick up a new client ... seems pretty basic business skills to me but when I read on here about laughing, putting tape on an invoice and faxing it continuously, etc., I then don't have to wonder why there are posts such as "I've got no work" .

I so agree with you both...several times I have turned down companies like 21st Century and low paying companies simply telling them I'm not available.
