Any other areas have this issue?
My new competition for Premier membership is our local Notary Association... which essentially allows ALL the LNA members to share ONE premier membership cost. Their ad is to search their list of certified signing agents. This does not seem fair to me and I wonder if any other areas have the same unfair competition. I don't mind paying for the premier membership but they should each have to pay for the listing... Any input? Thanks in advance

Have to agree, it doesn't seem fair...
to the lone notary paying for a Premier placement nor to Harry/NR. Not a problem in my area, but doesn't seem right.

Sounds like back-foor advertising for the local business,
who can advertise to potential notaries: "Free Notary Rotary Premier Membership, join today!"
I can see two drawbacks:
1. Harry loses money, and 2. Established, paying notaries are shafted.
The only winner is the owner of the Association.
Lose-Lose situation.

That's unethical, if you ask me.
Although, technically, "groups" are allowed to have a listing... but if a notary is part of that group, they are not allowed to be listed as an individual, too. That's in the FAQs.
It doesn't make sense to join NotRot as a Group at all unless you're part of a husband/wife team or something similar.

Might as well let the NNA have a listing as well

LNA/NNA
They are similar in many ways. I am a member of the LNA because they are wonderful for keeping us updated on legislation that might affect our notary commissions. However, to be listed on their signing agent site, you have to take their class and have their yeary bgc. No thanks. I am not listed and it is not fair to have all their notaries in competition with one ad... Thanks for the input. I am happy that I have some people in agreement. I was not sure if I was biased.

And every signing service in the country.... that lone notary's listing would never be seen.

Did you call Harry about this? IMO it's not fair or ethical. The rest of us pay to list our profile only--we don't get a group rate. There is a notary in my area that lists under her name only, but has a team of notaries that work with her.

I sent an email and they replied saying that they would look
into it and contact the LNA after they check. That is fair enough. I agree that they should check facts first. I was really upset when I saw that premier listing though... Unfair!

Re: Problem solved! Listing is gone
That was simple. They can be trusted to monitor the site. They are the best!

Janet, glad you brought that up.
That is wide spread on all the sites. Maybe we should complain about it on the other sites as well. Got to give Harry credit getting rid of it. But there are alot more on this site. Do we just email the companies to him. Essentially they are a signing service, not notaries, that pay the notaries barely anything.
