Background check?
2 signing companies have asked if I have a background check. I don't, so I wanted to inquire where and how I may go about having a background check for myself. I'm in CT.
Thanks!

Thanks! I thought I may be able to have this done at my State Dept, but couldn't find anything. I'll try here, thanks again!

Thanks to your post, I kept looking. The Department of Public Safety performs backgrounds checks in CT for $25.

Before you spend any money...
Find out if they are looking for a specific BGC, from a specific vendor. The last thing you want to do is go through the trouble of finding a cheaper alternative, only to find out it's "not good enough" for them...

How thorough is a bgc by the local/state police as compared to a non-police type vendor? What could another company find that the police agency wouldn't find?

it's not a matter of what they find it's a matter of what they will accept.

<<<<it's not a matter of what they find it's a matter of what they will accept.>>>>
Well my question is if the state/local police provide as thorough and complete of a report as John Doe Investigation Company what difference does it make that I got the bgc from the state/local police? Is it because I don't allow JDIC to fleece me out of $100 when I got the same or better report from the state/local police for $20? If that's the case, then I'd tell the TC, YES, I got a background check from the police.....oh, you don't accept it because it's not from John Doe Investigation Company? Ok, thanks for calling, BYE! <CLICK!!!>

Thanks all! I went with the Dept of Public Safety/CT State Police. I prefer not to spend more than I have to.
