CT Notary mentor

Hello, I am looking for a mentor in Fairfield County that can provide a tutorial session with tips, tricks and things to know about various signings.

I have been a notary since 2005, mostly providing services at my workplace. I recently started to work as an independent for the general public and would like some further training.

There is a notary in Bristol, CT that provides mentoring services, but I would like to consult with someone closer to Faifield County.

Please send me a PM to dicusss.

Thanks!

Finding a Signing Agent mentor / instructor

Not to discourage you, BUT

In this environment and the slow down in refinances and the reduction in pay by the companies hiring signing agents, you may be hard pressed to find anyone in your area willing to train you or "share tips." There is a lot more competition for a lot less work at reduced fees.

Established and experienced signing agents have seen their businesses drop dramatically and, with the influx of competitors undercutting each other for business, companies are paying half or less of what they paid two years ago. The person in Bristol is experienced and very good. Plus you may not be competing with her for business.

When marketing for business to title and scheduling companies, highlight any previous experience that you have with mortgage loan documents. Even if it was only "notarizing deeds, assignments, mortgages and trusts" or putting the packages together or making photocopies of the documents.

Re: Finding a Signing Agent mentor / instructor

Thanks for your insight!

I figured that even with the increased competition that one may want to make some extra $ by being a mentor/instructor and sharing their expertise.

Sure, I can order books and take tutorials from various websites, but I thought I would reach out to an actual person before doing so.

Interestingly, if more notaries were willing to handle some training, XYZ wouldn't be making so much money.

I agree! Although I only have time for a few signings each week, and some week I can't do any, I realize it may be taking these few signings away from someone else.

BUT, as an experienced notary, I would switch gears to make money in other ways if I found that I had extra time on my hands. Just my thoughts on this.

Good point, but the mentee (is that a word?)

must be willing to travel out of their area. Who needs to train your own competition?
