Computer techie question

I'm having a problem where my browser doesn't load (IE and Firefox) when I bring them up. I put the address in and I get a blank page. Even does it for addresses I have bookmarked. I restart the computer and it works. I'm getting tired of having to do that. Anyone know why this happens?

virus scan, spyware scan using spybot, restart everything including your modem and router. Make sure you have accepted all your windows updates using the windows update feature in your main menu, restart again, then let us know what happens ...

When I made Firefox my default, I had problems with docs. Went back to IE, and everything works.

There is only one site that I've run into where Firefox was a problem. (Don't remember which site either.) Other than that one, I've never had any problems with docs from any site using Firefox.

this is not a "doc" problem but the actual page loading....when I bring up either IE or Firefox the only thing that shows up is the address in the window up top and the page is totally blank until I restart my computer and then it loads but after my computer sits a while it does it again so I have to restart again and again.

I had a problem several months ago where certain pages, including Dynamicdox's wouldn't load or wouldn't function. Had me totally confused since some pages worked and some didn't. I could download docs that were sent by e-mail but couldn't get into Dynamicdox. IE would work sometimes but Firefox wouldn't. There were other sites I couldn't get into and it just didn't make any sense. I ran all the virus and spyware scans but nothing turned up. It turned out to be the DSL modem. Once that was replaced, everything worked like before. I have noooo clue why the DSL modem did what it did.

If you can't get to any internet pages at all, it might be your cable or DSL modem. When I switch from my desktop to laptop or vice versa (I don't have a wireless network yet - need to fix that!), I need to unplug the modem first or it continues to look for the previous computer. A power outage can also cause this problem.

I call my son and tell him to fix it for his dear old Dad. LOL

Have you taken my suggestions? The issue you

describe is text book "my computer has spyware" type of situation. I see it over and over again. ... And if you have kids that are using your business computer to visit MySpace, Facebook, Twitter or who knows where else, then get them on another computer .....
