Electronic Signings
Got an email from a well-known CA ss about electronic signings for Flagstar Bank/Fiserv. I've viewed the training video for signing agents. There is still paper that will need to be printed from the signing table. It allows notaries with e-notarization to do that, otherwise the notary can print a paper copy to sign in ink. If anyone wants to check it out, the link is https://paperless.flagstar.com/title/.

Brenda, you said, "Nations Direct. I can't imagine what the fee offered by them will be."
Probably what others offer for "regular" paper signings ... a boost in fees for them.

I didn't see anything about Nations Direct. Where did you see that?

https://download.flagstar.com/retail/pdf/paperless/ec_approved_vendor_bb_fb.pdf
Click on "Get Started" and you'll see the Helpful Links:
Helpful Links Troubleshooting Guide (PDF) Nationwide eClosing Notary Services (PDF) <-----
And then you'll see that the Nations Direct signing service site is "approved" as well as another mentioned...Vista something.
Very good information about e-signings, though!

I believe AmTrust has the same thing
at the bottom of the page - Nations Direct approved or something like that...

Sorry, forgot to add: click "The Paperless Advantage" tab, then click "Signing Agent Demo (Video) at the bottom.

The link you reference is not just a video, but an .exe file (an application that must be installed). I don't make a practice of opening those kind of files as a precaution against viruses.
Can you tell us what is so special about this program that I'd want to put it on my computer?

I still think esignings are not ready for prime time.
The process is inefficient having to have some documents signed by ink and others signed on a computer. Not every borrower is computer literate and can provide the correct internet access. Sure they may have a computer they use for email with the grandkids, but AOL is all they know, and they know nothing about IE (required by Amtrust). They may be still using dialup and don't have broadband. Cellular laptop connections don't work everywhere, every time. They are only as reliable as any cell phone, and we all know how bad that can be.
The NSA has to spend his/her own money to provide portable equipment and cell fees. There is usually little time saved taking into the time for computer setup, login, downloading and explaining the signing process to the borrowers.
The only advantage is to the title company, and you don't see any reduction in their fees to the borrower for doing an esigning, nor does the NSA get a bigger fee for all the trouble.
I say call me when it is easy and efficient at at the borrowers home with their equipment. Otherwise I prefer to pass (unless the big, big fee makes me change my mind).
