FASS

I have been handling closings for Transcontinental Title for some time and get $125 - $150. I got a call from FASS today, saying they are taking over the scheduling for TCT. What does FASS pay?

My advice is you tell them what they will pay..........

They pay me the same fees everyone else does (as listed in my profile), but it is hard to compare as GA is an attorney state.

I also worked for Transcontinental Title and rec'd a phone call from FASS recently. They told me that their base fee is $50. and an additional $25. for e docs. I responded that my ees were higher than that, and he told me he was typing in my info. I then rec'd a packet including their agreement with the low fees they pay listed in the agreement. I emialed them questioning this and twas told that I could just enter my fees before signing. They also have a 27 pg FASS Notary signing agent manual on how their system works and how they rate you. I am still undecided at this time but as the agreement states, the notary is not obligated to accept any assignments. I questioned them as to whether they require fax backs and was told that sometimes they do. Upon my first review of the info they sent me it looks like a lot of hoops to jump through, then you become what they call a "white glove notary" and can accept assignments on their website when they are listed.

IME, White Glove translates to 'cheap'.

NJW and others - do a search here with terms

"white glove".. (may work, may not) - this has been discussed before - if memory serves me all you have to do is sneeze wrong and your "white glove" status is revoked...

Just something in my far memory banks - no personal experience here....might be worth a search..

Re: NJW and others - do a search here with terms

My 1st signing was with FASS in May 2000. They were great but still only $50 to $60 for O/N.
When I went to $75 and then added $35 e-doc fee, FASS called only when they were in trouble. I still get a "little" work from them when they meet my fees.
The two above comments are so true. Even if you do not accept an assignment, it is grounds to remove you from "white glove".
Remember any thing that someone on thier end thinks is "not correct", even the way you fill out your Notary Cert can be a mistake according who is grading you.
If they use the money spent on the "graders" on notary fees they would get better notaries.
My question has always been who are these "graders".
Oh! Of course you get an e-mail making you aware of you "mistake" with a chance to reply.

All of the input from everyone is very helpful. I have decided not so sign up. I read the previous messages also, very informative. Thank you everyone.

FASS is something else. After I repeatedly informed them via telephone and website that I confirmed an appointment with the borrower, they had me down as not doing so. I sent them an e-mail disputing this. I guess I don't get the white glove whatever. But they still call me.

So....FASS ( First American Signature Services) is no longer owned by First American Corp (NYSE-FAF) ?

Transcontitnetal Title is now part of First American...

...and FASS will be doing their scheduling. According to my contact at TCT, she is not aware that there will be a name change.

FASS is a subsidary of First American Corp. A public corp listed on the New York stock exchange!
There is NO owner, it's a public corp. But they do suck though.
