Faxing back on Saturday
If you do a late Friday night closing and then ship docs on Sat. for arrival on Monday a.m.... do you do the faxbacks? They usually want those during weekdays if they are in.
This is for Nations Signature Closers! Thanks.

Only they can tell you for certain. If you wait until Monday, they will have the documents and the faxback will be of little value. Give them a call today. They are probably there or use an after hours number if you have one.

unless you have a prior agreement about faxbacks
I would follow the directions as stated. Most firms will ding you if you do not follow the exact directions without confirming with someone prior to the signing.
One reason why faxbacks are a waste of everyones time.. The docs will be there the same time the fax will be when the office opens.

Re: unless you have a prior agreement about faxbacks
Follow directions or else. Do it all right and then answer the call the following afternoon--after they've had the docs since 9:30am--asking you if the appt. went well and everything was completed.

You will spend less time faxing the few pages, than you
will determining if it is necessary

Just do it...
Faxbacks really aren't that big of a deal. far better that you do as instructed... that way you can say say that you did what they asked.
These companies ask us to do all kinds of things that are beyond logical... but I've learned that it's just best to do as they say. They really don't like it when a notary tells them something isn't necessary... like a single borrower being told to sign at the top of the 1003.

YES.
They want them faxed even if it is Saturday and they get them Monday a.m. They just called for the status although I had already emailed that to them! So I faxed! Thanks everybody!

Faxbacks can be a big deal...
...because you can't drop the loan package with Fed Ex or UPS after the closing. With having to go home first, pull out the docs, fax them and then go to the drop box, it can easily add 45 minutes to the deal. On a busy day, the docs won't get faxed until late at night and they won't get the loan package until the next day. When that is the case, I always ask which they would rather have...faxbacks the night before or the documents the next day. I will only do faxbacks for companies that pay me to do them. IMO, due to the time involved and the extra travel, I think the going rate of $15 is not enough!

I agree Lynn...not only the added time
but it adds 30 miles to my travel since I have to make a special trip to go out and drop the package the next day....my schedule isn't the type that's booked solid every day so, yes, it could well be a special trip for me..
Unless it's a purchase or no RTC (which I wouldn't even argue) I tell them the truth - the package isn't coming home with me - it's being dropped immediately - most companies I've dealth with have had no problem with that.

Re: I agree Lynn...not only the added time
I agree with Lynn and Linda both. They have a choice: Drop immediately or fax first and drop the next day. Doesn't matter which one they choose, but can't/won't do both. 9 out of 10 times they want it dropped immediately.

Re: Faxbacks can be a big deal...
I think it just depends on your setup... I have a small mobile scanner that lets me scan and send the faxbacks via email to fax service if they must be done right away. If not... I wait til I get home and put them in the document feeder. Not everyone has full mobile capability like that.
I guess I should have said "to me" they're no big deal... but yes, I do charge more if they want me to fax back right away. Even with a mobile scanner it can be a bit time consuming to feed one page at a time.
But I tell you, that little scanner is GREAT when I need a copy of the bwr's ID and they forgot to get one.

Re: Faxbacks can be a big deal...
I can see offering them a choice whether to drop now or fax back now and drop tomorrow, but I believe more is being made of fax backs than necessary. As long as the compensation matches the workload, if necessary, I can both fax and drop on the same day ... As I have said before, I get a lot of business because other notaries give the TC or SS a hard time on fax backs, even when the TC or SS is willing to compensate for the fax-backs. ... I don't get it ....

Magic words..
"As long as the compensation matches the workload"
Not always the case, as I'm sure you're aware, Glenn..

Re: Magic words.. Yep, that is why you
have to ask the right questions before you accept the assignment. It's too late to ask after you say yes and it's also too late to complain about it ....

Depends on what is on your instructions. I have done a few for NSC and never had to do any faxbacks, though it really depends on who the lender/title company is, as the faxbacks would go to them and not NSC. If it's a matter of getting them shipped in time for pickup on Saturday, I would inquire into whether they'd rather a guaranteed ship on Saturday versus getting fax backs in.
