Florida notaries - Commission detail online?
I had a client contact me asking what "UPD" means under my "Commission status" from the online notary database? I assume that it means "update", referring to a recent change of address. Was I correct?
Just want to be sure it doesn't mean "suspended" or "under investigation" or something!

Hi Robert, I'm pretty sure it means "updated". You can go to website and look at it.

Status? or Transaction Type?
As far as I know, the status is either EXP (expired) or ACT (active).
The Transaction Type may be UPD which means that the application was updated with either the notary's name (e.g. married vs maiden), address, and/or phone number. Other types include NEW (first commission) and REN (renewal of commission, notary ID remains the same, commission number is new).

Re: Status? or Transaction Type?
Mine is showing "UPD" for both "Status" and "Transaction type"

Interesting ...
I don't recall if the UPD was also showing on my listing when I moved. I do know it was showing UPD as the Transaction Type.
Did you recently change your address or phone number with the FL Dept of State?

Re: Interesting ...
Yes, my address recently changed. But I am concerned that it shows my STATUS as being "UPD" instead of "ACTIVE". If one potential client pointed it out, there have surely been others that saw it and backed away thinking it was something suspicious. I think I'll call the state tomorrow to get this straightened out.

Re: Interesting ...
Personally, I don't know of any ss or title company that has verified my commission by using the on-line database. Of course, if any have, I may not be aware of it. FWIW, I've asked (for the second time) for a list of 'codes' used by the FL Dept. of State in the database display, but have not received any reply as of this writing.
