If Dad's 81 you're no spring chicken

It might be a little warm this weekend, don't overexert yourself trying to keep up with him.

Re: If Dad's 81 you're no spring chicken...LOL Nope

LOL I'm 51 and yep, supposed to be 95 degrees Sunday. Probably going to require a few cold beers to stay cool. LOL

Tell you what's funny is that under the American Horseshoe Pitching Association rules a man can move up 10 feet closer once they turn 80. This old man has NO intention of moving up any closer to the other stob....at least not yet. We played a week ago and I threw 11 double ringers and he CAPPED two of them...it was kind of an off day for him and pretty HOT day for ME. LOL He still throws his share of ringers. I expect we will win the tournament Sunday. We've won a bunch of them over the years. We've played together since I was a kid and it's been something we've always loved doing together, among a lot of other things of course.

Dad was a trial attorney for 40 years, and I worked for him for a little more than 21 of those 40 years. Notary work is a side job for me. I handle personal injury and death cases, and do virtually everything short of asking the questions in a deposition (although I've actually done that before) or at trial. I've actually been allowed to argue some dispositive motions to the Court in quite a few cases, under attorney supervision of course, in three (3) district courts. Not many non-lawyers have had that privilege, and I personally know of no other that has. Probably more info than anyone wanted to know...just printing docs for my morning closing for LSI..love that company so far. VA refi with 99 pages of docs! Why can't they ALL do it in 99 pages on a VA refi? HMMMMMMMMM

"Probably more info than anyone wanted to know..."

I think its great to have a human side on an otherwise anonymous forum. Nice getting to know you...

Hope you and your dad win, but mostly that you continue to enjoy the game for a long time to come. Just read up on the game - it's been so long since I've played that I really can't count it anymore...LOL. Didn't realize it was still so popular still until Wiki clued me into that.

John, In my neck of the woods, Southern IL, some take their horseshoes very very seriously. It is incredible to watch. We have many tournaments in our town also. Does the name Charlie Webb meaning anything to you?

As a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for

children in the state system, I've been grateful for my law school training in advocating for the kids in court. When I heard "Chambers - that means you too, Mrs. Fischer," and found my advocacy included - the children won. A great leg-up, but it takes nothing away from non-legal folks from advocating for kids.

There's more than one way to pass the bar.

And, agree about LSI - Stellar smart.

CASA is the greatest most ridiculous program ever!

I've had two work associates involved in CASA and got the skinny from them, never done it myself.

You folks do great things for those kids. Great things. Besides helping them through court crap our local CASA has done things like take a group of them to Yosemite camping. Great stuff, great folks.

But for pitty sakes...these kids all have social workers, overpaid, presumably experts in seeing to their needs. The court tells me it considers the needs of the child first. If they're in a foster home, the foster agency has another social worker on it.

Why in the heck do they need yet another advocate with all these pros??? Ridiculous.

Nobody knows why, but it's obvious that they do.

Keep up the great work.

Who you callin' chicken, Gary...<sproynggg>

Spring has come and gone for this chicken;
62 summers:
Warm kisses of long light-
Songs on the breezes-
The cleaning out of winter's constrictions.

More at Fall chicken-

Winter is moons away.
