Nations Direct
I received a call from Nations Direct and they wanted me to do a closing that was over 200 pages. This particular lender had a lot of disclosures, I was told. Then get this they also wanted all 200 pages faxed back. I said are you serious and she said yes. Needless to say I quoted some price which is way over what they offer. They got another notary.

That is so laughable. I got called today from CDS (?)...wanted me to do a signing tomorrow where the borrowers already had the loan docs, so they were willing to pay $50...also made me laugh.

I spoke with a very PO’d Title rep the other day. These people work very hard in today’s environment to keep food on the table. They are out there every day pounding the pavement, making cold calls, etc. There is a lot of competition and not many customers. This guy finally gets a customer to give him a few orders to see if his Title Co. can produce the kind of customer service he says they offer. His Title Company uses Nations Direct for there out of state signings. His first three out of state deals went south, or had major problems, and his new customer is out-the-door. I said what do you expect? ND charges you guys $150, for a signing, and pays the notary $40. He says Whaaat? I said go to their web site, check it out. You don’t get a whole lot of talent for $40. Live and learn.

I have been doing signings for Nations Direct for about 8 months now. I have never had a problem with payment. Yes the fees are low but I always ask for an extra $10 if the package is more than 100pages. Also have been able to do esignings for them for $90 which is a heck of a deal. I dont know why everyone seems to have a problem, its money and in this economy its nice to have something on the side.

Hogwash. I don't go for less than $125 on eclosings...and more often am offered $150-$200. Don't be a dunderhead just because you aren't full time, many of us facilitate closings AS A LIVING, not "pin money" "on the side". When the part-timers undercut the full-timers, all they are doing is shooting us all in the financial foot. Next thing you know, GBrady61, someone will be undercutting YOU, by accepting those eclosings for $50. Know what your value is, regardless of whether you are part-time or full-time.

Re: Nations Direct - "Heck of a deal!"
You are right. $90 for an eSign is a heck of a deal... for Nations Direct, not you! Put a real value on your time and equipment.

Yeah, $90 is a heck of a deal...if you live in a 3rd world
country where people make that in a month! I had to pick my eyeballs off the floor when I read that one - oooh wheee! Live long & prosper!
