Nations Signature Closers, Inc Shawnee Mission, KS LOW PAY
Was going to sign up with this company and downloaded their NSA package. Noticed their fee is only $50, is anyone doing this?

I don't let a company's stated fees stop me from
signing up. I have found (on occasion) that when a company really needs a closing agent they will raise their fees to get the job done. I've been told more than once "we will agree to your fee on an exception only basis". Also, I have found that some companies don't update their notary registration packet information on their websites, and the packets contain outdated information. I want companies to know that I'm here in N. Alabama. We can address the fee issue once they call me for a closing.

Totally agree here with Michelle and others. Give them your
fee and get on their database. If they need someone in your area, they may just call you.

Last I heard they break down their fee - $xx for base signing fee, $xx for printing fee, $xx for whatever else you can negotiate - and you're in their database for that amount...so if you charge $75 for the signing and $25 for e-docs your fee is $100 - unless they o/n the docs to you after you accept the signing, in which case your fee is $75.....period.
I had a signing for them, with e-docs, $135....$25 was my print fee - they o/n the docs to me and paid me $110....
Are they still using Kinkos? Sending their docs there for printing and you pick them up there? Curious how that worked out for them.

Re: NSC & Kinko's Pickup
Yes, they do that if the ZIP Code of your appointment is within 10 miles of the nearest Kinko's. This is a real time killer because many times I've had to wait while a handful of people behind the counter finally notice me. Also, in most cases, the trip to Kinko's either takes me 10 miles out-of-the way, or extends my drive to over 25 miles = extra mileage $ allowance. And ... most borrowers are very unhappy to learn their dox were sent to Kinko's for printing = exposure to one more set of (out of the loop) pair of eyes having access to their private and confidential information. At the end of the day, NSC saves about $8 on these deals.

They called me last week at 9:45 PM for an "emergency signing" last week. They offered $165 and it was for a county that spans anywhere from 30 - 60 miles one-way from me. Was not enough to even come close to temping me!

You should tell them your fee instead of accepting theirs. n/m

I was told a some time ago that when signing up for companies to cross out their listed fee & write yours in. When you get the call you can negotiate your fee.

I filled out their registration packet and wrote "Negotiable" where it asked for your fee.

I close alot of loans for Nations, if they have a loan that qualifies for Kinkos, i just ask them to reduce my fee to the Kinkos fee, it's not worth it for me to drive to Kinkos. I really don't get that many that qualify for Kinkos.

Re: Nations Signature Closers vs. Kinko's
I thought about a reduced fee in lieu of Kinko's pickup, but I didn't want them to get in the habit, and reset my print fee permanently. I still get a good number of "regular" edox at $25 vs. them paying Kinko's $7.50 + my extra travel charge. Almost a wash for them, but that's the way things go.

Worked for them for 6 years, dumped them 2 weeks ago
They've gotten more and disorganized, more and more impersonal, more and more follow ups, call after call. Probably closed 1500 loans for them easily, but every time they call for an assignment, it's like I'm a newbie all over again. "Don't forget to call the borrower, don't forget to confirm you received our assignment, don't forget to respond to all..." When they call it's like Bill Murray in Groundhogs Day. They used to be human and treat you as such, now they're just robots reading their generic script. I get docs, immediately respond that docs received and printed, appointment has been confirmed, 20 minutes later I still get a call from a headset jockey asking if I got docs and confirmed the appointment. And heaven forbid a no close occurs, they can't communicate to save their lives. I get 3 or 4 calls a day for 3 days straight from a bunch of different people asking for status despite immediately communicating everything to them.
Last straw was when I spent 3 hours for a closing (1 1/2 hour round trip drive, 1 1/2 hours at the borrowers) for a no sign at 8 a.m. Saturday and they wouldn't pay me my fee. I could have walked out the second the borrower said everything was wrong, but I stayed there, let him rant and rave, attempted to contact all parties, calmed him down, smoothed everything over, and basically saved this guy from completely walking away. He re-signed new docs a few days later and I promise you it was only because of my efforts to settle him down. Nations decided to be rude and cheap. Don't need the headache from a signing service that pays typical signing service fees (but it was not $50).
Already replaced them with a title company that pays a lot more and nags a lot less. Really happy with my decision to cut them loose.

I'm running into more & more companies that operate this way--some "headset jockey" (I love that phrase) who doesn't have a clue about the industry trying to babysit the process--arghhhh!
