defend this? 90 days to get a check, it bounces..and you make him sound like a saint for "making it right" - it should have been right from the beginning...and far quicker than 90 days!!
Sorry..MHO

Pacific Document Services issued her a cashiers check today, and will do so for any check that is returned, unfortunately we receive our payment via wire and if our wire is not received by 12:00 on that day our bank returns everything coming through that day, i do apologize for any inconvenience that we may have caused, but will always rectify immediately. Sincerely,
Paul Gambs

You've been using this same old BS for years now. You just don't want to pay people if you can get away with it. What amazes me is the idiots who jump up to defend crooks like you.

Here's an idea for you
Don't write checks until the funds to cover them are confirmed in the account.
"My wire didn't come in on time" On time for what? Obviously it was several days from the time you mailed the (almost stale dated) checks till they came in. Were you predicting which day the check would try to clear and when the wire would arrive? Or did you just cross your fingers?
That lame ass excuse is a crock of shit and you know it.

IMHO it might have been more business-like to find out how they were going to rectify it before posting on the board.

It is more business like to make sure funds are available
before issuing worthless checks. Over and over. This is NOT his first "problem".

A suggestion for Pac Doc Services
I have no dog in this particular hunt but perhaps you should consider doing what one of my clients does...they use the bill pay feature from their bank. The checks are sent out by the bank to the vendor and they are automatically good because the checks can only be issued if their is money in the account to cover them.
No bounced checks, probably free or at very little cost from your bank, and no more complaints on the boards by NSAs who received NSF checks from your company.

Re: It is more business like to make sure funds are available
As David said, I don't have a "dog in this hunt" either ... however, it amazes me this company has been able to do this for as long as it has without repercussion - isn't it illegal to issue bad checks? How in the world are these people not in jail or paying SOME kind of fines for their actions.
And I, too, don't understand people who jump to defend them and their practices...

No dog here, either, but
it would sure do a lot for your rep., not to add your wallet--save some money be not having to overnight cashier's checks, ya' know--to start acting like a business.

Re: It is more business like to make sure funds are available
It IS illegal to pass a bad check. If I were to get a bad check, I would turn it over to the police dept. They would find themselves in jail. It would cost them way more in the long run.

Why is he paying his notaries with BOUNCED CHECKS? We rely upon these guys to pay us promptly and in a timely manner as we are providing our Professional Services up front! VERY VERY Slow to pay. Just rec'd payment in June for a March signing with a check BACK DATED to 4/30/09 that was returned for NON SUFFICIENT FUNDS while I was at Conference. Anxiously awaiting to see if it will go thru the second time!

Here is the bottom line, for those of you who do not want to work for Pacific Document Services that is your perogative, those who currently work for us and have done so for many years, some as many as 16 years, you know the type of person i am and the type of people who work in our office, i am not out to hurt anyone and there never has been or never will be anyone who will not be paid for their services. We have had some adversity recently regarding the manner in which we have been paid, which i will never use as a excuse. For those of you who have worked for us you know i am always available. Sincerely, Paul Gambs

Paul, I am one of the very few that have worked for you for 15+ yrears. I know that at anytime if there is ANY ISSUE you resolve it in a very quick manner. I can't say that to the LIA SIGNINGS and PINNACLE and SOX that have left their notaries high and dry and closed their doors with money still due to us. I admire you Paul for correcting and not sweeping it under the rug. You will always have my respect.

Just another self serving post Paul,
Yes, you've been in business over 15 years, means nothing nowadays. Companies bigger then yours have gone under, taking the cash with them. Bouncing checks is indication of your financial woes that you make our problem.
Nice people in your office, yes, they're getting paid on time. They do sound happy.
Waiting over 60 days to get paid, then having the check bounce, been there, done that with you.

Re: Just another self serving post Paul,
You know, the thing that upsets me is that you just don't get it. This is not a one time thing either. We are ALL small businesses struggling to survive so you are not alone in this. Being in business for years means nothing in this world right now. Rectifying the situation is not the same as preventing it from happening in the first place. We have had this discussion before as you know. Times are tough on all of us and when you bounce checks to fellow professionals out there it is upsetting to all of us. I hope that sometime you will understand this. I don't have a "beef' with you as you say, it is just not acceptable to conduct business like this at the expense of so many people.

Unbelievable that he defends this method of doing business
In one post he uses the excuse about his wire being late. In the next one he says that he would not use that as an excuse. Further, he acts offended when we tell one another to be careful. Facts are facts. I don't pay my bills unless I am sure I have the money in my account. Further, this has been a way of business for this guy. He keeps coming to his own defense saying that he takes care of it... Well I wonder what his "reason" is for shorting notary after notary in the first place... $10, $15, $25... Add it up and it means a lot of money. Maybe he needs it to pay for the NSF fees?
