Regarding msg #293130; Question for NJ Notaries

I just wanted to post this in case the message was to far down the board to be read.

I am a Notary in both New York and New Jersey mainly due to my company having origination offices/centers in both states and many others as well. I do perform notarizations for most of our offices throughout NY & NY. Let me say that I would not notarize any document in another state without a notary license as it would be illegal to do so. I have read and do have the NJ notary manual from 2006 (maybe its time for an updated one) and I am well aware of this fact. I asked this question out of respect for those in NJ because I found it strange that I would be asked to go pretty far out of my way for a signing and the borrower asked me why was I contacted as well. I appreciate the information shared on this board and that is why I posted. As always everyone came through and helped me to see that I did the right thing by researching the information and all of you verified it as well. By the way it was a Refi.

I appreciate all your help with this.

Thank you

I don't know of any state that licenses notaries.

Hopefully you are being well compensated to drive all the way down to AC...I'm not even sure I would make the hour and a half drive down there

Unless he stayed the night in AC

It is not worth the 3 hour round trip 10 dollars in tolls, gas and time. Figure the job time with printing and stuff was 5 hours or more.

So figure just tolls, gas and printing he is out 30-40 bucks off the bat 5 hours of his time so @ 140 bucks he breaks even "maybe"

thnx for figuring out the fees for me but.............

I know what the toll fees are and how to charge per mile. As it has been mentioned on this board constantly of which is to charge accordingly. You have to know what you're worth to survive in this business. However the fees mentioned in the previous post is below what a person should charge for that kind of trip. "Breakeven" no way. "Printing" didn't have to, docs Fedexed to borrowers home. Stay in AC of course not. I just simply showed up, verified identity, notarize and shipped docs. Easy as 123 for me. I'm confident I came out ahead.

Thanks for your help.
