Scanning Documents to PDF

Is there any software that I can buy to make my computer do this? I would like to scan documents & send them via e-mail in a PDF format. Thanks.

Some here suggested "cutepdf"...it's a free download....have it but haven't used it yet so no feedback on it - might try searching "cutepdf" here to read their comments.

I used cute pdf for a couple of yrs until I got my current multifunction Printer (Brother MFC 8220). That utilizes paperport by Nuance. I also have the adobe acrobat program.
Cute pdf worked great but seemed limites on the number of pages per scan. I seem to remember a limit of around 10. But it's free.

For 9.99 you can download 'create a pdf' from Adobe. Its a monthly subscription, that is so worth the money converting files to pdf, and its fast, it takes a few minutes.

https://createpdf.adobe.com/

Good Luck!

Most scanning software today will scan directly to PDF. However, if not, then I recommend using PrimoPDF (http://tinyurl.com/d4d5e5) to make a PDF file from whatever format your scanner will save the image in. (PrimoPDF is a full featured PDF generation software application. Best of all, it's absolutely FREE with no embedded or nagging ads.)

Cute.pdf is a great program. You can download it for free. By printing the image or document in .pdf, select cute.pdf in the printer selection area.

Re: Scanning Documents to PDF Questions

Hi, thanks for posting this, I too was wondering about how to do this. I can scan say up to 20-25 pgs. and it will turn into a pdf. fine, though the file seems larger, like 6-9MB, Does this free program make say a 40pg. file smaller MB's? When I'm doing closings a 100+pg. pdf comes over as 5-6MB.
Comcast only lets you send under 10MB files at a time, so if I send something that is say NOT Condensed down, then they reject it.
Faxing docs to Service Link is a joke, I faxed 40+pgs. last night and it tried to send it 4-5 times, and it comes back "communication error" which means "Busy" on their end, so then I have to call and then you can't get anyone, and SL is usually a pain in the a$$, to deal with.
Seems, the bigger the Title Company is, one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing, and there are always communications problems with them. Waiting on email questions, call backs, approval to drop, etc. They will wait till 4pm. to call you to drop a pkg. and that means another trip to town 14 miles round trip, so I usually just drop the pkg. while I'm all ready in town. Here I have a pkg. sitting here, no call back, waiting for email response and still nothing. thanks, for the help on the PDF question.

Re: Scanning Documents to PDF Questions

When scanning documents, often the document is scanned as an image. That means, each page is a picture of the document which takes a lot more file space than a normal text document which is compressed text and fonts. So, if your scanner allows for scanning as a text document rather than a picture, that's the one to choose. A text document will be about 10% to 25% of the same document when scanned as an image/picture.

Re: Scanning Documents to PDF Questions

I have Adobe Standard and it has an option under "Document" that allows you to optimize the scanned pdf document which in many cases will reduce the file size. This reduces background clutter etc. I also agree with Paul regarding scanning the document as a text vs image.

eCopy Desktop...try it, you'll like it! :-)

You can try it FREE for 45 days here:
http://www.ecopy.com/eval/Products_eCopy_Desktop_Evaluation.aspx

Or you can buy it for $11.97 here (might be able to find it cheaper):
http://softblock.net/buy-ECopy_Desktop_9.2-download.html

Works GREAT! The entire office uses it every single day. VERY user friendly, and I'm no computer guru by any means.
