ServiceLink and Fax Backs

For those of you that are doing ServiceLink and NationalLink closings with fax backs, what are you charging? You can PM me if you would rather not post. I know they will not let you charge for fax backs. I finally got a fax machine with an automatic document feeder, so I don't have to hand feed the pages any more. I asked to be delisted last year, because I couldn't justify the extra time to fax without being compensated for my time.

so....you're like working for $75...:(

those companies have a horrible rep for low balling notaries...then having them fax back 60 pages!

how are you surviving in this biz?

Re: so....you're like working for $75...:(

I work for both ServiceLink and NationalLink occasionally. By the time they get around to calling me they have probably exhausted their supply of lower priced notaries and are prepared to pay my fee. If it is a Countrywide (BOA) I increase my fee. Usually, after telling me that they will call me back if they can get my fee approved, I do not hear from them. Every once in a while they surprise me with the ok. I last worked for $75 ten years ago. I'm happy to have them call and enjoy a good relationship with them whether they meet my fee or not. My choice.

Re: By the way

I have never been asked to fax back any pages for NationalLinK, but 43 pages to ServiceLink last month.

Faxback requirements are usually a "red flag". It occurs most often with lowball companies that hire cheap & incompetent notaries, then have you faxback to check the work. IMO it's a ridiculous concept. I don't like working for the companies that operate this way & pay staff to babysit. There are a bunch of them that do that, always the cheapos.

Sometimes fax-backs are legitimately required for immediate funding...in which case it is reasonable for the notary to be paid extra for their time. When it's a SS requirement b/c they only get cheap, incompetent notaries...I stay away...it's not worth it to do business with those companies! I work with ServiceLink and NationaLink when they meet my fees, but I'm sure that's after they've run out of cheap notaries. They do pay though!

I also don't fax docs for National Line however last month Service Link wanted me to fax the entire loan package since it was the eom. Needless to say I declined the closings.

I do a lot of work for ServiceLink and have never had a problem getting my fee for faxbacks - I generally bring the docs into work the next morning and run them through the scanner and email the faxbacks to them.
