I had a call last night at five mins to 9 PM from Nations Signature Closers. I was on the phone, saw they were calling, and didn't answer. They left a message that they have an "emergency closing" tonight - they had docs and the time was as soon as I could get there. The location was in a county that spans anywhere from 30 - 60 miles from me. I didn't call back.
NSC called again at 9:45 PM and asked if I could do the same closing! They offered a whopping $165. I already had a good day of closings and I wasn't about to go out and do a closing at 11 PM for $165. I didn't even counter offer because even though I would have quoted $250 - $300, I was afraid they would accept it and I was NOT going out at that time of night. Others may want to and that's fine - but for me I choose not to work that late.

It's been hit or miss with NSC. One particular signing NLS was preparing the docs and they called and emailed me 5 mins before the signing to let me know they just received the order to start the docs...Needless to say, it had to be rescheduled for the next day...Worked out for me as they O/Ned the docs to me the next day(with the correct date), and still paid me as if it was eDocs.
If their version of well compensated for a last minute signing an hour away is $165 then it's probably better off NSC did not call me back last night.

Re: Who opened the paperwork dam
Unbelievable. I got 12 calls for signings today! Of course, about 9 of them wanted the same times so was only able to do 3. Wonder whether the loan paperwork log jam was freed up somewhere along the line . . never had that many calls before in this rather remote rural area, even at EOM.

First time ever having to hand back a closing - late docs
It was busy today, but all of my assignments had their docs to me early...except Nations Closers. The wife on my 2 PM called to say her husband had been called in to work on an emergency and had gone to a city about 2-1/2 hours away, but should be back around 8 or 9. I juggled everything around to fit them in, and we agreed I'd go there after my 7 PM Nations Closers appointment (a 45 minute drive away) and another appointment at 8:30 PM. Mind you, I got the docs for the 2 PM at 8 AM this morning, and docs for all but Nations Closers were also in my hands several hours before those appointments. Soooo, no docs, no docs, no docs. I called 3 times and was told each time they were running behind and did not know when they'd have the docs. Finally with the third call at about 6:15, I said I had run out of wiggle time, and the girl asked if I would like them to find another notary. Let me tell you, I hated to do that, but I'd gone over my schedule and rearranged it as much as possible, and the late docs simply made it impossible to take care of their closing if I was going to get the others done, the ones I already had docs for. So I reluctantly told her I would appreciate it if they could find another notary, and she agreed to do so. I then rearranged my schedule to accommodate borrowers who had wanted to close earlier but couldn't because of the Nations Closers assignment. And wouldn't you know it, when I returned from that closing in order to conduct the next closing at my home (borrowers request, not mine), the Nations Closers docs were in my email and appear to have been sent around 6:10, probably arriving in my email just after I had gone out the door. The scheduler called, and I hated to tell him I had simply run out of wiggle room because of the late docs, but that's what happened. It's the first time I have ever had to do that. Even then, with an arrival time of around 6:20 for the edocs, allowing for 30 minutes download and printing, driving 45+ minutes to the 7 PM closing, then time at the closing, and another 45+ minutes drive for my 8:30 appointment, every other closing and every other borrower was going to be seriously inconvenienced by this one late-docs closing. Sigh.
