Timeshare in Fla

I'm notarizing documents in Illinois this evening. The borrowers are purchasing a timeshare in Florida. The mortgage needs 2 witnesses. I'm pretty sure I can be one of them. Is there any stipulation as to who the other witness should be...friend? relative? neighbor? my husband?

Thanks.
Barbara

Mortgages in Florida do not require any witnesses.
The lender, however, may require it, but it is not needed for recording.
Anyone over the age of 18 may witness the mortgage, but should not be the
signer's relative with a potential interest in the property.
Notaries may witness this document in Florida.

To add ...

If witnesses are used, the witness must sign their name and legibly PRINT their name beneath their signature. This goes for the notary too, if they are signing as both an official witness (notary) and an unofficial witness.

That clears it up for me. The borrowers have a mother-in-law visiting them, but I will take my husband. We don't know them, and he'll be an impartial witness.

Thanks very much.
