ValuNet exp

Note: This post is not intended to reflect on any of the title companies that use ValuNet.

I saw the post a day or two ago about someone using ValuNet and the title company involved. I called the title company had had a very pleasant conversation with the nice woman who took the call. She said they could add me to their list but that I could also sign up with ValuNet which would cover them as well. She sent me an email with the necessary information.

I tied to sign up using the contact form from ValuNet but it would not accept any telephone numbers, no matter HOW I entered them it always came back with an error. I experimented a lot and found that supposedly required items (with a *) could be left blank and you could put junk characters # $ ^ &Wink in other fields and it would accept them. But no phone numbers with or without dashes, spaces, or numbers only. Now, I was a programmer for 30 years so I certainly understand editing and input filters - if you choose the wrong one accidentally if it easy enough to fix and recompile.

I PM's one of the people who responded to the earlier message on here and she was kind enough to give me a direct phone number to the company. That's where things REALLY went downhill! They are the most arrogant, rude and even condescending people I have run into in a very long time.

The fellow answered the phone as ValuAmerica. I began a sentence to describe the problem he rudely interrupted me half way through and said "Oh, you must be using Firefox". I acknowledged that and he said their program would require some kind of plug-in to work with Firefox and then he stopped. I had to then ask if they were going to do that and he said, Well, only about 10% of people use Firefox and that wasn't enough for them to do that. His tone was condescending to say the least. I said it doesn't sound like you are willing to address the problem and he said no everyone should use IE (just to satisfy them I suppose). The whole time it sounded like his nose was up in the air and he wanted to get off the phone as soon as he could.

Well I changed from IE to Firefox years ago and any and all problems I ever had with viruses, bugs, worms and Trojans went away. This was at the recommendation of a computer guru and highly paid consultant who is the type of guy that gets a hold and new versions of Windows before they come out and and disassembles them and can tell you what they 'fixed' or didn't fix and everything else about it.

I don't think IE is even on this system (I hope not actually) but I have to decide if I want to risk using it or if I even want to take the chance on getting any "business" through that company and do I want to pay them even $5 for the arrogant jerks they act like??? A person certainly can 'vote' with their pocketbook can't they? I have been using FireFox for years now and I have NEVER been unable to enter a telephone number anywhere else. ONLY with ValuNet.

Now I'm sure there are those that will respond and say they have no problems with IE but that is not the point of this message. If a company puts out a program to the general public it should be able to work with any major browser that the general public is using provided they follow the programming 'rules' which Firefox certainly does. And they should not be so arrogant when THEIR program does not!
