Work

I am just started trying to work as a notary signing agent even though I've been a notary for years. I was told there was a lot of work to be gotten, but it has been 3 weeks and i have had one job of delivering some documents. Any suggestions?

Don't want to burst your bubble, but if you spend some time reading the messages here in the forum you'll see that this is not a good time to get into this business. Who told you there was a lot of work to be gotten?

The folks who got me into this business. They said "you can make as much money as you want!"

"The folks who got me into this business. They said "you can make as much money as you want!""

You certainly can make as much money as you want - as long as what you want isn't a lot...

Those who are still successful in a really difficult market have been at it a long time, know how to market and run their business, and have a client list that they will not share with you (and rightly so) no matter how nicely you ask. Everyone else is struggling. I hope you didn't pay a lot of money to "the folks" who fed you that line, because it could be a long while before you see any of it come back to you.

And just to brighten your day a little more - you're fresh meat for the less than reputable signing services, who will hire you with no intention of ever paying you. Chances are better than even that those will be the first to call - they have a hard time getting more experienced notaries to fall for their line of manure. Do yourself a favor and get in the habit of checking out everyone who calls you, either in Signing Central or by using the Search function here in the forum.

Ignore that last part, and you may soon find yourself getting all the work you want; you just won't be getting paid for much of it...

Good luck.

Re: Work...welll....my my my..

"I was told there was a lot of work to be gotten.." - I wonder who told you that???..

".....but it has been 3 weeks " - you need to market yourself as a signing agent for a whole lot longer than 3 weeks if you expect to get steady work, especially in this financial climate.
