Who started that rumor?

Actually, the very next day rates started going down again. Everything is cyclical.

Re: Who started that rumor?

"the very next day rates started going down again. "

On 5/29 I postd #290244 wherein the article referenced indicated that rates were beginning to climb. That was not a rumor.
On 5/28 the following was posted on the internet: http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2009/05/28/Mortgage-interest-rates-rise-in-week/UPI-28791243523787/

This is not the only source I have, but it is a start. I am wondering about your source and would love to be proven wrong - but don't just say 'rumor' dismissively.

My sources are the rate sheets themselves. I read them every

day. It's my business. I am a loan officer.
There are reasons why the rates escalated such a huge amount on 5/29. However, they started going down the very next day. Rates go up and down all the time. They are cyclical. I don't see them heading up to 6% in the immediate future.

I hope so! May was mad busy and I have 1 scheduled for Monday. Probably could have had more, but was unable to return my calls from SS in time.

Last Wednesday I took 2 signings

then turned down like 4 that all wanted to be at the same time as the two I had. Monday was the holiday, Tuesday was for fixing everything that got screwed up over the weekend...

Then Wednesday all hell broke loose.

Then the two ended up canceling... well one canceled and one I just finally did today. So out of 6 possible jobs I ended up enjoying an evening at home... poor but content.

The rest of the week was plenty busy.

I had a record number of closings for me last week - 25 - and my best month since I started in the business in June 2005. I am just afraid that rates will go up and our business will slow to a snail's pace. I closed my first piggyback last week since March, 2008. I don't often see borrowers receiving cash anymore...most have to bring a check. When refis due to low rates dry up, there will be very little business.

I am going to get my insurance license. My husband sells insurance and has more business than he can handle. I love being a signing agent, but won't miss the 14-hour days at month-end.
