ClearWire internet access?
Is anyone using this? I just got the brochure in the mail and they are offereing $29.95/month for life for internet access that is "just as fast as broadband and DSL". They say up to 2.0 mbps, but I'm pretty sure that's less than cable. They do not use a cable or phone lines. Just plug their modem into a power supply and you're good to go. They have a card for your PC also. Anyone using Clearwire? Any hidden fees?? Thanks!

Cable and DSL watch out!
It's not in my area but I guarantee I would try it if it were!

$30/month and $4.99/month modem rental plus taxes
here it equals $40.00+/- and I can get more reliable DSL cheaper than that.

If I am correct, this is the service that is designed to bring internet to extremely rural areas using the power lines to carry the signal. I thought that the service would only be rolled out in areas that are not very densely populated.
I know people who live in an area where such service was being tested, and it was causing a lot of interference with short wave radio and the ham operators were pretty upset about it.

If you're in an area where you can't get cable or DSL, it could be a good deal. There are a number of companies looking into broadband via the power supply lines, and it's a legitimate technology. $30 a month is not a bad deal, but 2.0 mbps doesn't really approach the speed of cable or fiberoptics.

Re: Another reason to Love Clear Wire. :o)
Here is the deal with clear wire. It is great. It runs all 4 of our computers. Husband loves it. We also have take it with us on the road because it is a clear wire box with a service any where there is clear wire service is in the country we have the Internet service. We have a travel trailer and he uses it when camping. I could use it to do an E-signing if I needed too. I have taken it to my Mothers home and used it there. I have an Verzion Air Card at $69.00 a month (ouch) built into my computer, Clear wire is much cheeper. I haven't used Clear Wire while driving down the road like I have my version air card, so I cant tell you if that would work or not. But I can tell you that the service is a great way to have both and Home and Mobile Internet Service. Just another reason to Love Clear Wire.

I have HughesNet because I am located in a rural area....
and I am thinking that I might have to check this ClearWire out. I pay 60+ a month for service (that is the least expensive, slowest speed). If you download you get FAPed which is very annoying and then it runs at dial up speed. Also, when it rains heavy or storms, I have no internet because it drops the signal. I hope Clear Wire is in my area, I will give it a whirl....can't be less reliable than HughesNet.

Welcome to my world, Cody...:)
We have HughesNet too - pay $85.59/mo for a step up in service - still not the best and I HATE the penalty if you exceed your download limits...grrr....storms, clouds, rain - such fun...but I refuse to pay any more than I already do..
Ah well, tis the price for country living..

Could this be a less expensive option for s-signings than an aircard? Is it only available in rural areas? (Clearly, I'm completely ignorant on this one...) Thanks.
