Based on the comments on SC, why not ask for payment upfront (via Paypal or something)?
That's worked for me with a couple of non-payers.

I find this very sad.

Harry used to be a good guy and I did a lot of work with him 2-3 years ago. I can't believe he is not paying his notaries...so sad.

It really is. As much of a jerk as he's shown himself to be on this forum, one thing he always had going for him was that he paid like clockwork. And it sure didn't take 6-8 weeks like this thread seems to indicate.

I guess all of his ridiculous business schemes were gigantic failures. Wasn't it not too long ago that he was in here bragging about doing 1000 signings a month? What a shock (not) that he was full of crap about that one too.

I always confuse Express Notary & Express Notary Service

with each other.

Express Notary Inc is in Tustin and has some bad reviews in Signing Central since February. Express Notary Service Inc is located in Irvine (which is right next to Tustin) and I believe this is the one that Harry (although I thought his name was Henry) owns, and he is the one who has made the controversial remarks about notaries on this forum and claims he facilitates 1,000 closings a month. His company still seems to have high ratings in Signing Central from the notaries that accept his fees.

Called him back and questioned negative reviews. He

states he always pays notaries, etc., etc. After lengthy dissertation, asked him for upfront payment and he declined. Advised him I'd have to pass on signing and he stated they would never call me again. Conversation was conducted all very politely, we said our "thanks anyway" and hung up.

I talked to them because I did a closing on 4-3-09 and they pay the end of the month the following month so I was told I would have a check around 05-30. So we will see.

Hopefully, the other negative posts have been paid. I'd hate to see a good-paying firm be adversely affected by just a few disgruntled people. Unfortunately, sometimes only the bad gets posted. Then again, maybe he also was hit by the recession. As previously posted, it is a sad situation. Glad you got your money, Jim.

You are correct Yoli and Jim - they may have gone through a slump along with the rest of the housing economy and now are rebounding, but unless someone posts differently, there are many postings in 2009 that show otherwise. That is why it is critical to constantly update on these companies to show newer history, or history in the making.

Speaking of updating - one can update one's own comments on SC as well to reflect difference in opinion/treatment/payment, etc. So if those who may have already posted that they haven't been paid and now have been paid would change their original comment, that would be of help. The update is then posted reflecting current date.

Thanks for taking the time to do this, on any and all companies. Not just for ourselves, but for the community at large.

They pay every 2 weeks. I did 14 signing for them in March, 9 in April and 5 in May with no problem getting paid... could be more if Iable to be in two places at the same time... lol
