First Title and Escrow, Rockville, MD, any info?

I have a UPS chargeback from quite a while ago I am trying to collect from them. I did not work directly with the TC, was hired by a SS and was paid for my notary services. I have faxed, mailed and left messages to be reimbursed. I was told that there was some "issues" with UPS and they changed their account number and would reimburse me. That was several months ago. Now everytime I call....I am directed to "Pam" and she will not return my calls, and they tell me that no one else there can approve payment.

Does any one else have any other ideas?? or do I write this fee off the books??

Do you still have the confirmation from the ss showing how to ship the docs back and the account # to use? That happened to me once and I wrote a letter to UPS attached a copy of that part of my confirmation and told them it was their problem to find out the correct billing info and that I REFUSED to pay for the chargeback. I never heard from them again.

I already paid the UPS fee...

so I do not think that will work. This charge is actually from 2008. I paid it to UPS because I called First Title immediately when I received my UPS bill and saw the charge...they said they would reimburse me and explained what happened. So, I paid it thinking the funds were coming back to me from the TC. Hindsight (and you know what they say about that), I should have disputed it with UPS, but I didn't.

Sorry there is nothing you can do to collect from the company, and besides bothering them, you cannot really afford the time to do that for the $ involved.

This issue has come up, and a notary should never, ever, include his or her name as the sender. Always use the name of the title or signing company as the sender. If your name is not on the package, you can never be backcharged.

Call the TC and ask for the legal department

Explain all the hoops you've jumped and ask them to settle it for you. Take down the name you talked to and ask for an email address to forward your request to him/her so there will be no misunderstandings.

Hopefully this person will settle it for you. If they don't call back in a week ask for that person and ask what has happened so far. If it sounds legit, tell them you'll be calling in 3 days to finish this up.

Now if it doesn't work call back again ask for the VP of legal affairs. Explain to them your side, express firmly how long it's been and that you'd like to get paid. It is at this point that you put on your poker face and mention how you really don't want to go to small claims, but you worked for your money and you want it.

Normally this will work and if it doesn't take them to small claims

Never let it go...

Get all your ducks in a row...all documentation in hand and call first & fax it to their lawyers. This falls beyond the norm and most TCs just don't handle 'unusual' in a timely manner. But, everyone is right... NEVER put any identifying info on a label and you'll never have the time-consuming problem again.

Gary's never fail progressive fax collection system

Here's what you do.

First of all, send it to whoever they tell you to, and THE boss which you might have to find in public records.

Put together your invoice, a letter of explanation, anything you have from UPS... whatever... demanding payment. 5 pages is about right if you can.

Fax it to them and get a confirmation printed.

Put a file folder next to your fax and put the 5 pages + the confirmation in the folder.

Next morning put the whole mess in the fax and send it to them again, with the new addition of yesterday's confirmation. Now it's six pages.

Day after tommorow it's seven, and obvious to everyone that you know they're receiving your fax.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

You can also get the BOSSes name (not the idiot manager) from their corporate records then put it into the assessor database find the address of his house and send him a nice note at home.

They will tire of this in about 2 weeks, guaranteed.

If it becomes clear, they're just not going to pay you and this becomes a matter of simple vengeance... your computer can fax without you having to feed stuff into the fax machine... any PDF can be sent... you can find free e-books of older works that you can send them on a Sunday evening so that Monday morning they'll have good reading material all over the floor and no toner or paper in their fax machine. Now remember, most TC's have those great big, high capacity all-in-ones... War and Peace should be just about right.

I had a problem with First Title & Escrow about a year ago...Pam will not call you back. I had to file a small claims suit against them to get someones attention over there. I did finally get reimbursed, but the time and effort out weighted the 3 UPS charge backs. I chased them down mainly due to the fact the Pam and her crew either played stupid or dodged me..so I went for it and won. I would never deal with them either directly or indirectly again, in fact I filed a complaint against them with the SOS and BBB.

I had one experience with this company - turned out to

be a positive one in the long run - the SS I dealt with shut down before paying me...found out from title when I contacted them about the nonpaying SS - previous poster is right - Pam NEVER returns phone calls...when she didn't return 3 of my calls requesting a copy of the canceled check to the SS, and I was told they don't do that - I couldn't get a copy of the canceled check - I said to myself "Self...here's what you need to do..." and I filed a complaint with the Maryland Insurance Department - after having it referred through the proper channels, First Title and Escrow paid my invoice, even though they'd already paid the SS...

I agree with the others - I wouldn't write it off - I'd pursue them - unless, of course, you're independently wealthy and are giving money away - in which case let me give you my address!!

Good Luck, Cody..

It is more the point of the matter with me...

I do not like to write ANYTHING off, even a buck...because I think If I am owed money, I should be paid. In this case it is around $35-40, would only be around $25 or so but you add on the $10 charge back fee.

I like using the online shipping system so I can print the labels. All of these years I have used this and this is the only chargeback I have recieved. Luck has it, it is the also the only one I can not collect on.

I will try some of the above suggestions, thanks all!
