Mobile Office

I'm considering purchasing a Van and converting it to a floating office. Not just a compputer and printer, but literally a complete offrice with desk , filing cabinets etc. Business has been great lately. Driving home to print Docs is sometimes more time consuming than signing. An office on wheels would also allow me to pull over and any time and do paperwork. Does any have any info on this. What would the costs of van conversion, how as it worked for you etc?

A couple of others have also included table and chairs for those signings that are less than perfect situations. Don't forget than angle.

Much has been discussed here about these things - do a search and you will probably read the better part of an afternoon.

Thanks, What do you suggest for keywords? I triied "Mobile Van" and little came up-- most people were talking about putting printers in the back seat of thie car.

Mobile office
inverter (pure sine)

thread below references Becca's post - she has mobile office
some other comments have come from posts discussing lack of space in borrower's homes, ie, no table space and someone mentioned that they just took them to their camper (or ??) where they had table and chairs and conducted signing there.

Adding...Re: Mobile Office

Really not adding a thing except I do not think a whole 'mobile office' in a van has ever
been discussed. But Becca's post will help you with powering all the stuff you'll need in that van.

Again , I'm new to this ... How do I finde "Beccas Post." When I put her name in to search I found many things, but nothing about a mobile office.

Wowie Zowie - that was my vision. Plenty of room

to add a printer stand. All-in-one a must, if dual tray is available. I'd knock out the passenger seat and add storage for supplies.

I'm drooling. And, as long as $$$ is no object, I can see a fabulous wrap on that beautiful van. Love that both sides open and electrical outlets plentiful.

There is a Title company that has a van to go to borrowers. I saw this on their website recently. It is really neat! Of course I can't remember their name as they use their own closers. I think I found them on Signing Central.

I recently turned my Subaru Outback into a mobile office and love it. I'm now able to take last minute closings and the stress is off worrying about when I can get back home to download a package or asking my husband to do it for me. Don't know though if it's worth turning an entire van into a mobile office with desk and chairs. Most borrowers are leary of us coming to their home how would they react to going into your van to close the loan?

I think it's a great idea. A motor home would be splendid, too. It's a terrific tax write-off if you have enough business to warrant it. In this business we feel naked if we don't have our equipment with us.

That'sa great idea..but what you need to consider is...

There are 476 mobile notaries within 30 miles of your zip code JUST LISTED HERE...do you have the volume to make the purchase and customizing worthwhile - or will you end up (a) not having the business to justify the expense; or (b) will you end up pricing yourself out of business to offset the price of the van. Only you can answer that...remember this spurt of business may or may not last...will you end up having a white van or a white elephant on your hands??

Also - sent you a p/m.

Good Luck!!

I think it would be much better and cheaper to just equip your current car with mobile internet access and printing capabilities. So a laptop and printer in your car to easily access the internet to get updates, make updates and most importantly print documents while on the road.

A notary with these capabilities would definitely have a leg up on the competition because they could handle more closings and accommodate more last minute calls AND last minutes changes to the documents.

If you could do "x" more signings a week you can quickly estimate when the investment will start seeing a return.
