Need to Increase business

I need more business. What are some good sites to get on? What agencies do I contact or do I sit and wait? What is appropriate marketing?

Start by beefing up your profile here...

Years of experience, number of signings, etc - more details. Look at other NotRot profiles to get some ideas for improvement.

I'm sure others will weigh in...

We don't 'do' notary of any kind unless you are perverse and advertising to a different market. A little thought goes a long way, especially when you are presenting yourself to the public, and this is a public site. Must think.

You must have a website at a minimum to be considered a "business person" in 2009.

Your profile needs a lot of work. Look around and see what other notaries post as his/her profile.
Don't steal their profile info, just see what he/she posts as a profile.

Something else that's sticking in my craw...

Anita, you're relatively new? You want more business? Ditch that $200 fee in your profile....IMO any company reading that will just move on to the next notary and not look back - not that they'll need you for after 12:00 am assignments, but if you're asking for additional service fees up front, what other fees might you throw into your fee structure. Not to mention I'm not so sure how legal it is for you to charge it to begin with.

And as Julie said - you don't "do" notaries...it's notarizations or e-notarizations.

Also - get more business? Market, market, market....sign up with everyone you can.

Re: Something else that's sticking in my craw...

Anita, I agree with Linda_H/FL. Since it would be a very rare call indeed for a loan signing anywhere near that late, it doesn't make business sense to put it in your profile.

I used to think that if I didn't advertise 24-hour service that I would not get calls for evening signings (not true). I stopped advertising 24-hour service years ago after a nightmare 10:30 PM loan signing where I got home at 1 AM and another instance where docs kept not coming, not coming... Oh! they are finally ready at 10 PM, but husband is still at work and can't get home until 11 PM. Never again for any price! (But that's my choice - others may not mind working that late.) Plus, I don't want weirdos calling me at midnight or later wanting me to meet them in the middle of the night for a notarization.

Also, it's best to tell in our profile what we CAN do for our potential clients, not what we CAN'T do.

Can you recommend trustworthy sites? I think that's where I have the most trouble i don't mind posting or paying the fees to join. I did follow a lot of you advice.
