No White Out?

I agree that no white out should be used on documents but as a person who sees actually recorded documents regularly I can tell you that correction fluid (or correction tape) is used often and liberally on documents.

Of course, the notary's best practice is to never, ever use it but it's not uncommon to see it on documents presented for notarization or to see it used once the document is sent for recorded.

Interesting, huh?

Lawyers do it. Paralegals do it. Secretaries do it. TCs do it. County Recorders do it.
But NSAs better not do it.

Exactly my point, Lee!

I cringe when I see that the county clerk's office has removed incorrect recording information with strips of correction tape.

Brenda, are you talking about Liquid Paper that you "paint" on the document or the correction tape, or are both used?

An interesting fact that some of you may not know is that Liquid Paper was invented by Bette Nesmith Graham, the mother of Mike Nesmith from the Monkees. I used to love watching the Monkees when I was a kid!

Re: nobody's perfect. Including a certain primo outfielder

That's a $7M paid vacation (50 games @ $138,889 / game or $45M for 324 games in 2 years).

My guess is that the team, not the idiot in question will foot that bill.

I'm just a tad frustrated at the moment, maybe I'll drive down there and kick his butt myself.

No you went and made me break my vow!

My reaction was more along these lines.

Thanks for the link, that's a little strange!

This pretty much sums it up for me (the article, I didn't watch the vid on the page)

I suppose it looks better than just XXXXXXXXXXing out unwanted information. See that alot, or if something important is missing see typewritten info added afterwards.

Amazing. Does that mean that w/the LPA for corrections they can go in & change almost anything using correction fluid?

Back when we received the majority of our paperwork overnighted, I saw white out quite often.

I believe my county's web site says that nothing will be accepted with white out ... I did an overnight package within the past year or two with white out on the Mortgage (I remember putting a HUGE note in the return package indicating the white out was on the docs when I received them) and I know it recorded.

A big NO NO for the notary. A company would "lop-off" your thumbs if the notary did the white out thing.

Guarantee that if you did Brenda you would probably get 10 to 20 years with no chance of parole Smile

Have a great weekend.

I had docs come to me with correction tape in the venue - I just shook my head then drew a line through the tape, then added venue on paper instead of tape. Interesting to say the least. Nevada property - anything goes?

Also, white-out has more than one 'master' ...

Lenders don't usually take kindly to such things on their stuff.

White out is the best product to use if you want to screw up

your fax machine with at nice black line.
Cover it with transparent tape before faxing.
Also good for a small ding on a white car.
Reason QC folks don't like it on loandox, is because you can't tell what
it used to say.
Instructions usually say to draw a single line through incorrect info, write
in correct info and have bwr (or notary, if change is in notary section of doc)
and initial .

I've had a situation where we had to line through & correct dates on the RTC.
The borrower actually asked if we couldn't use white-out. We're all taught to do things correctly, and it bothers some to line through. I can imagine sending back a RTC with white-out--that would go over big!
