OT-MS Outlook...deleting stored email addresses
Does anyone know how delete the email addresses that Outlook automatically stores when you send an email? I have some email addresses that are no longer valid and when you start typing in the "to" box, it suggests previously used emails. I want to delete some and I forgot how to access where this information is stored. For some reason I thought you need to access through MS Word but I can't remember.
TIA

You should be able to simply highlight the no longer needed entry in your "address book," press your delete key and then re-affirm the delete.

The only address book that I find is one where I manually
had to enter someone's contact information. I cannot seem to locate an address book that has a list of email address.

Re: The only address book that I find is one where I manually
Open your email account. At the top there should be an "Address" box. Click that to open it. A list of all your email address should come up. Highlight one that you want to delete and right click on it. Then choose delete. Confirm delete. Hope this helps.

Is this through "tools" and than "address book"?
If I go through those steps it is not listing email address but only contacts that I put in manually.

I know exactly what you're talking about and...
I would love to know too.
To explain to others a bit in more detail. When I go to enter in and email address, a list automatically pops up of everything that I've typed in the send box before as they match the letters I type. If I mis-enter an address or do a typo, it saves those too. I would like to get rid of those incorrect ones or ones that I no longer use, but they are not in my address book or "contacts". Not sure where they are coming from so that they can be deleted, it's just that Outlook "remembers" all the others I've input before.

In outlook 2007 - you can push "Control+Shift+B" to bring up
your address book. Are you using a different version than 2007?

Re: Is this through "tools" and than "address book"?
When you first start to type in a new email address and all the potential options come up, you can use your down arrows to highlight the item you want to delete without choosing it. Once it's highlighted, I believe you can just hit the delete key to remove it. Whether or not that removes it completely, I have no clue. This is just from personal experience. I don't know either where those are stored. I would guess in some sort of history file. (I have an older version of Outlook, so the only address book I have is also the one I manually created. hope this helps...

THANK YOU!!!
This works. Once I mistype an address, it's there forever and over time I have mistyped my business partners address too many times. Great to be able to delete it.
