Portable printer

Can someone suggest a small laser printer suitable for lugging in and out of various Starbucks locations? I'm using an HP 1020 now, but it's a bit bulky. I'd like something smaller to use on the road with the netbook.

Hugh, I have a Brother HL-2140. Inexpensive, about 15 pounds... handles legal paper. Decent printer. It's not a work horse, though, and the RAM kind of sucks. You only get 8MB and you can't expand it as far as I can tell. It will get the job done in a pinch and is a good backup to keep in the trunk. A good portable laser is tough to find.

I've been mulling over the Samsung ML-1630W. It has similar specs, but seems to be more durable as far as the duty cycle goes and is wireless. But it seems like oranges and oranges.

The one I'm really looking at though is that Brother HL-2170W. It's not much more expensive. Also wireless/networkable. 32MB RAM.

Re: Samsung-ML-1740

I was thinking of putting mine in the trunk but I dont think it is PCL5/6 compliant. Wondering if it will be sufficient (sp) for printing?

Thanks,

Janet

I have a portable Canon PC170 that I keep in my Jeep. I've only used it a few times for emergencies. I always carry legal and letter size paper. Just in caseSmile

Option #2: For quite awhile now I just carry a high-speed Portable Flash Drive. Have the company email the docs to you and go to FedExkinkos with the downloaded flash drive. Or you can download at FedExkinkos "rent a computer." Then have them print the docs out at the counter (it's cheapier.) I was able to "make-a-deal" with a manager at the center near me. Business is really slow for them. I tell the hiring company the cost and they will have to add that to my fee. As I said before "for emergencies only" late, last minutes or trailing docs JMO they need to co-operate with you if they want the signing done. If you do it this way you're back on the road in a flash. Cuts back on your Mallox use.

Option #3: Call the customer and ask if they have a printer. If it's just a few trailing or changed docs just use their printer. Only had to do that twice in all the years I've been a notary. I was at the signing table and get a call in the middle of the signing with the old changed docs or we missed a few docs thing. lol

Is everyone pooped-out today?? What a Friday busy as a beaver Friday and Saturday is going to be a killer also. More coffee ! Please Smile

That works great if you have a kinko's near you. I'm thinking laptop, aircard and portable printer in this area of cornfields, soybean fields and the Chesapeake Bay. The next problem is power for the printer, even the Mickey D's are few and far between.
