Response from TCT
Here's a partial clip of the response I received from TCT to my e-mail to them yesterday (which I posted previously)....perhaps NotRot management would like to address the statements made ...
"Unfortunately, Notary Rotary's BCG is not an acceptable fulfillment of this requirement... This NNA report is applicable nationwide with a standard set of measurement criterion is used. Also the entire process is managed by a neutral, non-biased party and is done at the cost of the independent vendor. The NNA allows First American/ TransContinental Title access to their database to be able to download their list of background checked agents. Here our developers are able to quickly update this information to our FASS Notary platform. "
There's more, - she did say they expected "pushback" with this requirement and they claim to have spent 6 months recruiting notaries to replace those who won't comply. They further asked me if I wished to work with them until the deadline - I replied yes and would even consider getting the NNA BGC *IF*, and only IF it was a stand-alone - I would not rejoin and recertify with them.

Well, this proves what many of us have thought: The NNA is no longer acting in the interests of their notary members, but in the interests of certain companies and their own interest.

From what I can see, a third party did do my Not Rot background check and it is nationwide. So yes, by giving them access to the NNA data base, their payoff seems to be increased sales of memberships. At many levels as well as their required certifications.

Wasn't that the same "third party" who others have said made glaring errors in their BGC report?

TCT = FASS = cheap = you wouldn't do 'em anyway, much less pay for the 'privilege'.

Lee - I've worked for TCT - at MY fee....
so yes I would work for them - but NOT if I have to join the NNA to do so.

I got a call from TCT in FL today. Nothing about BCG was ever brought up. I'm not sure how I got in their database, and my Cert/BCG doesn't "expire" until the end of this month. We'll see. I am not going to renew by Cert/BCG and will gladly tell them why.

Re: Red Pill or Blue?
TCT uses signing services, how will they make sure their notaries are all screened and certified as well? Then I can trust, since I am in their database, I can expect all the work in my area if I comply? What is in it for me? If I pay the enormous fees to the NNA, I MIGHT get a call from TCT? Wow, I am just not feelin the love!
What is next? to be a member of the NNA we will all have to wear the same navy blue jumpsuit too? Be told what is acceptable and good for us without a shred of evidence to support their "standard"? Ah, do we see things as they truly are, or do we accept what we are told because we need to believe it is right, out of fear? Well, I am going out on a matrix limb, red pill or blue folks? I prefer the red, it may be unpopular but at least it is real.

I have worked in this business for years. I do have a criminal background check done by A Check America Inc. At one time I was a member of the NNA, and a ‘certified’ Signing Agent, (Yes I bought the story) but no more. I believe the NNA has done more to harm this business that the lender/bank/housing melt down of last year. I did do a couple of closings for Transcontinental Title (FL) recently, but they didn’t ask about a BGC, just wanted to know if I could do the job and how much. I have never worked for FASS (mostly because I don’t speak Hindi or Tagalog) and don’t plan to. I’m doing just fine without FASS, or the NNA, and I plan to continue in this business without their help.

Had a call from TCT Tues to do aMIC signing. I had checked an hour before with vendor relations about the bgd check. I mentioned the the person asking me if I wanted to do this MCI on Sat afternoon. She didn't know or care about any bgd check. She would not meet my fee for the large pkg of MIC without rasining my base fee. I have done many for TCT at my &75 plus $35 e-doc and $30 per 50 mile travel. She just would not understand that MIC is a large package (150 pgs) and requires about 25 pages of fax backs which I get an added fee for the extra time and work. She would just remove me from doing MIC packages for TCT. OH! Well some else will call from them next time because that info more than likely won't exist in thier data base. (She was trying to "snow" me into makeing her look good by getting the notary to accept a lesser fee.
