So I just ordered my steak

Teriyaki skirt steak with cheese Tortellini actually, and a cup of great Clam Chowder (Friday night) at my favorite joint.

It had been a long day and my 6pm signing, that had been rescheduled twice this week just got moved to Saturday... so I'm done for the day went to the restaurant instead of the signing.

My phone rings... and fool that I am, I answer it.

Hi... this is Nicole with Acme Mortgage... I have two loans that will lose their lock if they don't sign tonight and my Escrow officer is out of town, Karen T. (another EO) told me you're a wonderful notary could you please please please...

Well let me finish the meal I just ordered ... first signing started at 7:30 last one ended at 10:00 (not such long signings but I'm tagging along with this LO, and it just kinda went long on the schmoozing.)

It all turned out good but I really wanted to just eat my steak instead of swallowing it whole and go home and read a book.

Good for you Gary. Now you can order two steaks b/c you're good a what you do. They won't forget that you pulled them out of a whole.

Which basically means: "I had my steak and ate it too". Good job, Gary - now you've probably got a company that's willing to throw work at you when they need someone!

"They won't forget that ...."

Oh yeah?!?! My experience: "Thanx for what you did yesterday, but what we're interested in, is what are you going to do for us today?" For the most part, these people have a very short gratitude memory.

I also agree, there is very little appreciation or loyalty- by the way, watch that saturated fat Gary!

Price of dinner out on a Friday night.....$30+ for one..

Good for you, Gary!!...Smile

Reminds me of when we owned our gas stations. Got a call from a customer that he had run out of gas and could I bring him some. I filled a gas can up and went and saved him. Wasn't long after that I see him across the street buying gas because they were a penny cheaper. I almost lost it.

There is NO loyality in ANY business. People are going to buy Cheaper ALL the time. Think of that next time you go into Walmart. You are putting someone else out of business. Would Walmart go put gas in your car? Didn't think so.
This goes along with the video Marion posted above. Thanks Marion for reminding me what customers can be like.

Yep, no loyalty in BUSINESS, period.

My dad's a salesman, and I remember years ago he got so tired of the 'newbies' who'd say "Yeah, but LAST week I sold ...." that he actually had t-shirts done up that said, and I quote (including no spaces):

"Yeahbutwhatdidyoudotoday?"

The more someone tries to come on like my 'New Best Friend' for the FUTURE, the firmer I stand on my fee for TODAY.

Re: Yep, no loyalty in BUSINESS, period. MAYBE THERE IS HOPE

Sorry, some of us still believe in the Golden Rule: "Treat others as you would like to be treated".
This is working for my company and those who work with us.
It's not that hard to treat people properly, with respect and prompt payment.
Call me an optimist but we are very busy and everyone is profiting from this arrangement.

I know how that can be sometimes....you just want a day off to relax. You shouldn't see it as foolish to answer your phone, in fact, I think it's a mistake not to. I always, always answer my phone and on days I prefer to only watch grass grow, I inform callers that "my schedule is full for today", then refer them to another notary or if it's general work I refer them to the UPS Store, FedEx Kinkos or the AAA office. That is great that you got two signings.

Wait a Minute...

...weren't there TWO "boys in blue" playing last night? Which one are you referencing, Gary? BTW, our Cards did their level best over the weekend to make the NL West a competitive race.

Pest control problems at Dodger Stadium

I don't know if it's the dry weather or what, but they're expecting diamondback rattlesnakes on the field tonight. The maintenance workers' union will not allow them to deal with dangerous animals, so Coletti and Torres put their heads together and decided to send our players out with their bats to kill 'em.

I predict they'll have 'em swept clean in the next three days.
