The borrowers have to suffer.

Did closing Sat. Had borrower married name not current name on docs. Did sign. aff with both names and did the best I could because the title company was closed.
Now, they want to redraw them today with her current name and asked would I backdate for Saturday!
Their mistake but the borrower will now have to wait more days ...... she told them prior of her name change.
I told them I can't backdate even though it was Saturday I sat down with her for signing.

That's why it's important for these companies to have an emergency contact for Saturday and late appointments. I always make it a habit to get one if one is not given.

In CA just asking an Notary to backdate is a crime. IMHO, that should be the law everywhere.

Since this is their error, do you charge the same amount to sit down again for a signing?
Just curious.

Yes, of course. Second printing, second travel, second presentation, second appt. set aside time. Although, it will depend on the entity that hired her. Their policy may be different regarding no signs and may or may not have been accepted as such. Variables we are unaware of at this time.

This is a business. Plumber comes to house today. He charges for trip plus time and materials. He returns next week, he charges for trip and new time/materials, etc. If I want to avoid this second charge and I am smart, I will ask plumber to check everything while he is here today and have all washers replaced so that he can make only one trip and assess everything while he is there. Labor and materials cost don't change, but travel does change the equation.
