Urgent problem... Help
I have a problem. Received a call for a signing on Saturday at 3 and accepted. It is Friday. As of 5pm today I had not received the docs by e mail. I called the signing service three times and they resent the docs to me and I saw them on my e mail server but I was unable to download them and print them. It is now almost 6 and I do not have the docs. The confirmation has no after hour number. I called the borrower and she gave me the number of the "loan officer" and I called that number and left a voice mail message but it sounded like her office, not her cell phone number. There are no other numbers on the confirmation. I am stuck with no docs and the SS's phone says that they are closed for the day. They will not be working on Saturday. Any suggestions on what I should do. I am leaving for a signing now, at 6 and won't be back to received any suggestions until around 8 or 8:30pm Pacific time. This was for a reverse mortgage signing and I know that the borrower will be very upset. Any siggestions? TIA Erwin

Some time, in every SA's life, this happens.
Sometimes there is just nothing to do about it after you call and call everyone you can think of calling. I feel for you Erwin, wish I could be more positive in the direction you are hoping for, but can only be positive that this has happened to most of us at one time or another.

Why couldn't you download the docs?
What happened?

You could try restarting your computer and deleting cookies. I have forwarded it to myself before and that fixed it.

Oh - OR triggered something from looong ago
Try saving them to another file/desktop, etc. and renaming them when you save - that has been known to work.

If you are using yahoo as your incoming doc email address, there could be something stopping it from either downloading it or opening it.
As OR suggested, try to forward the entire email to a different (non-yahoo) account to see if that solves your problem.
Good luck!

You did not give a lot of info to diagnose your problem. It's one of those "I need to be there" situations. I assume it's a PDF file. I also assume you can see the file but when you click on it, it will not download? Before you try anything else, as others have said, hard re-boot your computer. That is shut it down all the way, power off then turn it back on again. Since the Recission Date for Saturday, Sunday or Monday are all May 28, as far as funding goes, it dosen't really matter which of the 3 days you sign on. So if you can't fix the file, there should be time to get in touch with someone who can send the email again. So it's not panic time --yet.
One of the posters mentioned sending the file to a non-yahoo email address, like the one you have with your isp. That has worked for me in the past when I have had an issue with Yahoo mail. In fact, I had so many issues with yahoo mail at the beginning, I just began using a Verizon.net (my isp) address.
Good Luck

I also had problems with yahoo....any of my contacts that send me attachments containing photographs, I forward to my gmail account (which I use primarily for business) and I have no problems opening the photo attachments. With yahoo, I had all sorts of problems. Plus with yahoo, one has to log in, then click on mail, then click on inbox....what a hassle. With gmail I just log in and I'm at my inbox.
I've never had a problem downloading large files from gmail.

I had a lots of problem with yahoo too. A few years age I started to use Gmail for all of my docs exclusively. Also if you are using Firefox, use Internet Explorer. I have had many occasions like that. Good Luck.

It is now 7:30 in the morning. I tried calling the SS and they are closed and they told me that they would not be in on Saturday. I have ATT as my ISP, and ATT-Yahoo as my e mail server. Yesterday, I could see the e mails on ATT-Yahoo's server but when I tried to download it to my computer using Windows Mail, they evaporated into thin air. I don't have them on either ATT-Yahoo or Windows mail. I will go to the scheduled signing and just appologize and hope it can be rescheduled for Tuesday. By the way, the loan officer is supposed to meet us at the signing. It is a reverse mortgage signing. Maybe he/she will have a better idea. I don't have his/her's phone number. Erwin

Try calling your ISP on the landline ...
Isps keep copies of emails on their servers for a period of time. They may be gone from your list, but they are still there somewhere.
If they can restore them, then download them using the webmail feature, not windows mail.
I personaly hate Windows mail. It created issues for me in the past. I also don't like outlook. I personally use Thunderbird and have used it for years without issue. Also, if you must use a webmail service, I would consider moving to Gmail. It seems to have frwer issues than Yahoo.

This is my I asked my question - I've had similar
issues of files "evaporating"....I've had to have the file resent - usually happens with more than one attachment - I can open some but not all and I'm thinking it's how the file is attached in a string of attachments...I notice any with a comma after them usually won't open. For me it's been an issue on the sender's end and not sure how you can rectify it without being able to contact them - unless you know of a way to separate the attachments and send them one at a time to yourself
Maybe this is a great lesson to companies on why it's not advisable to assign a signing then quit for the weekend.
Good Luck

"I will go to the scheduled signing and just appologize and hope it can be rescheduled for Tuesday."
Why waste your time? Just call the borrower, tell them you have technical problems that are preventing you from downloading the docs and that you'll call to reschedule on Tuesday once it's worked out. You can also have them call the loan officer and pass your number along in case he wants to call you.

The reason I am going to apologize in person is that the loan officer is supposed to be there. The borrower gave me the number she had for the loan officer and I called it and left a message, but it was voice mail at Wells Fargo and I am not sure it is the loan officer. I was hoping that the loan officer would have some suggestions or numbers to call to get the docs re-sent today. There were no other numbers on the confirmation except the borrowers and the SS.

I still wouldn't waste my time. The borrower could tell the loan officer that you weren't able to get the documents just as easily as you could have and the loan officer could have called you for more detailed info if he wanted it. I see that you went to the signing and waited half an hour for the guy, so basically you're now doing the equivalent of two signings for the price of one. Not a smart business move.

Yes, Firefox doesn't read certain files, like documents downloaded through Dynamicdox and a few others. I've had to close Firefox and open the doc program with IE.

That's a lot of stress to be stuck with. I know that's why many companies will wait for a confirmation that you were able to received & print docs. It's a bummer here on the holiday weekend when no one is available.

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions. I showed up at the signing at 3 as scheduled. The "loan officer" showed up at 3:30. Turned out he was the Reverse Mortgage Counselor and he said no problem. We would just do the signing on Tuesday. He even volunteered to contact the "powers that be" and have the docs sent to him where he will print them out and bring them to the signing. He took my business card and told me that he would contact me to let me know when to meet him at the borrower's condo for the signing on Tuesday. As of right now, I only have one signing scheduled for Tuesday, at 11:00, and I told him I could come earlier or later to do the signing. He expects to hear back by 7 am our time as they are on the east coast. Thanks again everyone. Erwin
