From what I understand, the electronic seal

will not only place a "seal" on a document but will digitally sign the certificate so that the notary doesn't use a wet signature. Is that correct?

doc Signing Pros

I got an e-mail last week from Doc Signing Pros stating they will be selling the electronic seal and asking me if I have the capability of doing e-signings, which I do, but not e-notarizations. Isn't this a state-thing, the e-notarizations?

yes e-notarization is a State and I think even County thing. n/m

Jan - I think it is a state thing.

I'm just wondering if *anyone* has seen the occasion to do an electronic notarization. I believe the answer is "no" because no one really seems to be tuned in on electronic notarizing just yet.

Thanks, jba...I will use my orange

search button and do a search for Margaret/FL's posts along this line. Thank you for that tip. I have done some other searching but the answers were all over the place.

(I guess I could have construed your answer to be meanness and just "jumping" on me, but I prefer to believe you answered my question.)

Re: #271617 .... wow, you could have c'd & p'd it for me!

Smile You just gave me a nasty old number. I had to use the orange search button! You could have copied and pasted it in here for me, Juls.

I read that Margaret wrote: *I am into my second commission as an electronic notary. I have done 1.* And, that was in 12/08. This is quite interesting.

I think I'm getting the mental picture: Not a lot going on with actual electronic notary work, a few are investing in them, and very few are doing E-notary work.

Re: Scratching head now...I thought there was only

When I go to Notary Supplies, there is a reference in their photo of various seals, but when I go further, there is no mention. I don't see where NR is selling them now. Anyhoo - I thought only one place was selling too - but, haven't kept up on this. Had mine through some company we don't like but let it expire. Not used, and too much $$$ to just renew this, and why anyway? Doesn't seem viable at this time.

Now I have been known to be wrong, I am not an authority in any manner but do like to get in my $.02 worth from time to time, thereby keeping the pot stirred.

so...some do have the electronic seal but no one is

saying that they have had cause to use it?

I chatted with a brick/mortar title co. today and there's no one over there even the least bit concerned about having an electronic notary seal.

It's got my curiosity up. I know that is the "wave" of the future...but when...why...inquiring minds are trying to figure it all out. I like to think I'm "up" on this kind of thing, but I am having trouble getting my mind around it.

Re: so...some do have the electronic seal but no one is

Brenda,
When PAW ask about the level of electronic doc acceptance of the counties in your service area, I made a survey of about 15 counties in my service area (did NOT check Dallas, Denton or Tarrant Counties).
None were at Level III
2 were Level II
the rest Had NO ability to accept electrontic dos and did not know of any plan to do so.

I am talking about electronic notary seals and

Electronic Notarization.

Nothing to do with filing or recording acceptance.

(But, thanks for that info, Sid.)

An electronic notarization is a notarial act performed by a notary public using their electronic seal and electronic signature on electronic documents.

As soon as it is availalble other than from the xyz I intend to get my seal so I can understand it. I think it will work with Adobe and other PDF products. Learning what I can ahead of the curve.

Re: I have not used mine yet, but from what I understand,

it does work in Adobe and other PDF products. I know of only one local TC here that has a notary in house that uses hers for their electronic signings that are done in their office.

I got mine when they first came out here. I do not like to have to deal with only one supplier, and have not used it yet; but like to be prepared, and will be ready when there is a need for it. It is not all that expensive, but you do have to renew it yearly for now.

I have it but have never used it. I don't feel comfortable advertising it because I have never seen it in action. The training was inadequate and left me with many unanswered questions. I called the NNA with my questions but was not able to get any answers. I have tried to find a lender or title company that requires the service but have not found any as yet. I stopped looking some time ago. I will probably hold onto it for a couple of years just in case it becomes a reality.

Last year I called a title company in our state to find out about their take on e-signing and e-stamps and the lady said that inspite of the huge turnover they have had a few e-signing .... the reason being that most of the people are going FHA due to rates and FHA is not accepting e-signings .... dont know the status now but this was some time nov or dec last year.
