courier service supplies

Question--how do signing agents handle the acquisition of Fedex/UPS shipping invoices, envelopes, etc.? Do you have your own courier accounts and purchase the supplies?

If you have the accounts, are free. Go online and make the order.

Re: CC Info

They do make you give them your CC info, but it's not used unless an you're shipping an item on your own expense -- which should be NEVER for signings. The down side is when a "Swindler" company defaults on their bill, it's charged to you. This has never happened to me, but I've read it hear on the site (you may want to do a "search"Wink.

Here's the whole deal: Open an account with both using a credit card. Order all supplies which are totally free. EXCEPT...do not order shipping labels--pick those up from drop boxes, shipping centers. Do not do the 'online label' thing--handwrite them so both Ship to and Bill to address are the same. If you put your name anywhere on the label, you run the risk of being billed.

I just go to fed ex kinkos and get free supplies. For UPS I get the envelopes at the hub or a box outside of a title company. Those boxes are more likely to have the legal sized envelpoes

I have gotten them there. There is no rhyme or reason as to whether they keep them stocked there. I once slid a note in one asking for them and they were there the next day.

U can get the reusable cardboard ones with phone call

if you just call UPS or FX with the item number they will send them to you at no cost. You do not need an account for supplies except for airbills and if you hound them enough they will also send you these.
Just got two cases of UPS legal size reusable envelopes last week and have never opened an account.

Interesting...I was not able to do that. Must have acct.

Of course, guess policy might change in the 10 or so years since I opened the accts.

They will try to get a cc number, just hold your ground,

they do not want to loose the business, so just let them know that you need supplies or you will be using their competition!

I opened accts. with Fedex & UPS simply for the convenience of ordering supplies online.
There is no charge for supplies. They will ask for a cc# for billing of potential shipping charges.
I do use Fedex's online shipping manager for preparing labels (using the client's acct. #, of course) & have never been backcharged for shipping. UPS, on the other hand, has backcharged me, so I only handwrite their labels, using the clients name as both shipper & receiver.
