Advertisment / Promotion

What have been some of the ways / places everyone has advertised/promoted thier services? Think that this might be an interesting thread, especially if it can be a sticky here. (Although I don't see any).

Other than my website, I have large size post cards that I use as ad banners and post them where ever I can, such as laundromats, supermarkets, stores that have "business" boards. I also have a bunch of business card holders that I leave (filled with my cards, of course) at businesses that allow them.

Internet marketing whenever I can, in places where my audience will see it. Such as LinkedIn, MerchantCircle, YellowBook (online), SuperPages, etc.

I also do direct mail marketing. I've created a brochure for my services unique to my target audience. I target title companies and lenders with my "The Closer" brochure, and letters to attorneys and law firms, doctors and medical services, hospital Ombudsman and "patient care" coordinators, nursing homes and rehab centers.

The best so far, word of mouth from my colleagues.

You have to determine who your audience is and market to them by whatever means you can.

In addition to Paul's list, I've also begun leaving my cards at hotels and nursing homes...especially after I've done a last minute notary for someone who was very grateful when the person at the desk helped them find me on the internet.

I stick to spending my advertising $$$$ by listing on the major notary websites, this one included.
I also have a free listing on YellowPages.com, which brings in calls for general notary work.
In addition, I've left cards at a couple of nursing homes/rehab centers. I do get calls from there
because they can't have a notary on staff due to conflict of interest. Otherwise, a reputation gets built & repeat business is the key, IMO.

Also forgot to add that I put vinyl lettering on the back of my vehicle. I've gotten some calls from people seeing that while driving.

I too have signs on my cars. (Shameless plug: I make magnetic signs for the rear. See my website for details.) I also have "real estate" type signage on the doors.

I leave business cards everywhere, have vinyl lettering banner on the back window of my car, notary websites, business cards at the local banks (most banks here send people to me for general notary), flyers in laundry mats, direct mailing.

Do it TODAY. Get one of PAW's magnetic signs.

It's THE BEST promotional value of its kind known to this notary.
