I bought a used MF4150 a short while back to use as a back-up and for faxing. I have a mixed opinion about it, but mostly good. (I'm not sure what the differences are - MF4350 may be a newer version. Does the "d" mean dual tray?) As a back-up, I think it's great. It's pretty fast for its size and cost and it makes excellent quality copies.
Here's a rundown (again, don't know what would be different with your model):
* I use it for all my faxing (and scanning, for now). It quickly scans the whole pile before it starts to dial and it sends at a fast speed. I haven't spent much time yet experimenting with the scanning feature, but the one time I tried to scan a big pile of fax-backs, I either had the settings wrong or it's a real memory hog. The file size was huge and impractical for me. The ADF works much better than my HP, though. No feeding problems at all.
* It's a toner hog. The cartridges aren't too big, aren't as easy to find as for HP and Brother printers and refill options are few. (I did recently find one place that offers toner refills, but I didn't try it - yet.) Also, I try to turn on the toner save feature every time I use it, but I'm not sure if it's working on my printer. I don't see any difference in quality. (Again, I bought mine used. For cheap.) I'd be very happy with a little less awesome looking copies...
* Flat bed scanner only handles letter size, but ADF can do legal, no problem.
* It CAN be used as a substitute for dual tray in a bind. I found this out by accident, but if you send an entire file to print to the MF4150, it will detect the paper size, stop printing and prompt you to change the paper to the correct size; you hit the "OK" button for it to "resume" once you've put in the correct size paper. Major time consuming PITA, but it worked. (I was in a crunch and didn't try to see if I could change settings for all legal. That's something I'd very definitely want to know if this were my only printer.)
* The automatic duplex (two-sided) printing is very nice, too. It's quick and saves paper - but I don't know if the toner cost is worth it. (Also saves file space for confirmations, though...)
Otherwise, seems like a very solid little workhorse of a printer. My total cost on ebay, including delivery came to about $75, so I'm very pleased with my investment. I think I also read good things online about the MF 4350. I found tons of info online from reviews on different websites about several different printers I was considering bidding on. Many of your questions likely have answers available from a Google search, but you'll probably have to drill down a bit to get to the details - if you're half as anal about this stuff as I am! (I spent most of a holiday weekend on it... )
Good luck!
