Docs not signed, same time & work
How is it that we as notaries can be faced with irate borrowers who have not even been told their loan amount, forget having the HUD presented to them 24 hours before closing...how is it that we are willing to explain, give excuses for and even wait A FULL HOUR while the mortgage broker who didn't do his job in the first place blames it on someone else while talking to the bo with my phone!!! Then instead of thanks for going the extra mile, thanks for trying to save the deal while Ms. Signing Co. is at home with her kids (as I can hear them having a blast in the background)...instead of accepting my very reasonable invoice for printing over 200 pages, one hour of my time praying the guy would calm down, not to mention travel.....all I get is you should have done this..you should have done that! UGHHHHH! My fee stands & I will collect!

"how is it that we are willing to explain, give excuses for"
Explain, yes; give excuses - for what?
"while talking to the bo with my phone!!! "
If we need to contact the LO, I suggest that the BO call the LO, and I do not offer my phone. One time I did that - they talked over 30 mins, I knew it wasn't going to sign (believe it or not, the father of the son I was to sign, was a mtg. broker and the son was mad and just trying to go around his father, The wife had presense of mind to call her FIL and insist he come over - the terms were awful) and I demanded my phone back so that I could leave. Very rude, I know. I will not offer ever again.

I loved your post! I've had that experience before and believe me I know of what you speak. Many of the loan officers are terrible, thinking only of their commission and doing a tapdance around the customer. I just won't accept assignments from those companies in the future and I make sure that I let the proper people know what went on at the signing. I tell the borrower to contact their LO and then I just sit there and stare at them until they get their phone and make the call. Fortunately, many of the loan officers are really pretty good and work for their customer. There are some terrible lenders out there though!
