Filing small claims....

I want to file a small claim against a company that I think is no longer in business, website is down. Is it a waste of time at this point or can I still go after the owner. I have his address, I have his cell phone, I know where he is working now and he is still a notary on notaryrotary.com. How much money am I looking to dish out for the whole process?

Also, has anyone filed a claim on a company out of state and was it successful? How did you do it? Was it worth it?

Good question I am in the same boat as you and I don't know what to do. It upsets me that we do are part for these companies and then they don't want to pay us. It was a big packaged I did for this company to 150 pages.

my advice is to try a collections company first.

Then check with your state's laws about filing a small claims lawsuit, statute of limitations and all that jazz. You have to be on your p's and q's when it comes to filing, or you will totally screw up your complaint.

Do a search on this site for collection company. It will cost a few bucks, but just might be worth it in the end, if its the principal of the matter that counts; then the collection pursuit may be worth it. Also having some extra time and cash will help as well.

Cari's correct. Make sure you follow collection procedures step by step. This forum has posted time and time again about collecting you money. Good time to learn about the "search button" and all the information out there as well.
