I saw that ad too, Shoshana.
I haven't used this model before. The price seems right, however, the page count sounds slow to me. If I did not already have a reliable portable laser printer, I would buy this one.

Does it take legal paper? I wasn't quite sure.

Thanks Linda. That's a good deal for a backup! I am going to look and see if it takes a second tray. I am getting spoiled!

Caution: Does not support PCL
Okay for PDF and other Windows based documents since it uses the Windows GDI to print. Since PCL is not supported, it won't be able to print documents that use SwiftView, eLynx, and other PCL based document print utilities.

PAW, how often are you using those programs:
Swiftview, eLynx, etc.? When I first started this line of work (2006) I saw these a lot. Now it's PDF, or going to a website to download. Are these programs going by the wayside?

Re: PAW, how often are you using those programs:
I estimate that about 98% are coming in PDF format. So the use of proprietary print utilities is definitely waning. IMO, I think is should be increasing because of the major security and privacy protection that should be in place. There's just too much data transmitted in the clear on the internet today. Encrypted data transfers should be something that all lenders and title companies are looking at. When I was a broker and a commercial small loan lender, we had to use encrypted file transfer, including print files download from a data warehouse, such as Swiftview. I think as e-signings and e-recording become more widespread (over the next few years), that data encryption and protected file transfers will emerge as well.
Had the same thread been started 4 years ago, I wouldn't have said "Caution" in the subject line, but would have used "Unacceptable".
