How to efficiently exit Yahoo email?
2 months or so, I posted that my yahoo email in box had 18K emails and my simple list of email 352 addys was wiped clean.
Luckily, all was reversed within a day. Whew!!!
I exported my contact list next day to another yahoo account (one I use for spam stuff).
My contact list of email addys was just that: I hit "add" whenever I thought I might want to send that gal/guy another email someday. My true contact list is safe: far away from MicroSoft.
While comparing notes with buds more tech savvy than me I discover: everyone is bailing from yahoo and switching to gmail.
Sounds good to me.
The tricky part is that I have lots of correspondence re volunteer work, alumnae assoc projects, etc, in my email send/received history.
Has anyone figured out how to cut their losses and grab what they can while leaving yahoo for Stargate Universe destinations unknown?
I would LOVE to read your tips!
Many thanks! LauraV

Why not use both? You can import all your email addys from
your Yahoo acct. into GMail, send a mass email to anyone you want to give your new gmail addy to and you are covered. If you have a paid yahoo acct. you can have gmail fetch all of your email from the yahoo acct. directly into your gmail acct., gmail fetches from pop3 accounts also.
I am not sure if the gmail account would pull old emails (your inbox, folders, sent items, etc.) into a new account or not, but if so it would almost be worth paying Yahoo long enough to move your emails from them to gmail and then cancel the account.
Just a thought, but I am sure someone has a better one or definitely more knowledge.
Have a great Thanksgiving!

Re: Why not use both? You can import all your email addys from
Those are all terrific ideas I did not know about!
(I prefer to fantasize about European vacations and hang out with my pug than think about tech cr@p so I know minimal stuff about yahoo, etc. That's OK until I get a big surprise - like suddenly needing to jump Yahoo's ship.)
Thanks, Jim!

I have a paid Yahoo account
I pay $19.95 per year and I send all emails to gmail.com. I have had this paid account for years. I don't want to change my advertisement information to a new email address.
