I got paid by SOX

Today I got a check in the mail from SOX for a signing I did on this past Sept. 30. And this was without having to harrass them or send collection letters. I accepted the assignment when they called even though I read about their reputation just to take a gamble on it.

That's too bad that you'd work for them knowing how

they have treated so many.

Glad you got paid but not glad that you took work from them. Just my HO. They've burned too many notaries...and now, because of your post I think others will also fall into the problem of working for them and thinking they will get paid.

I Agree

with Brenda. The more assignments we accept from these companies the longer they can stay in biz and hurt others, or you in the future.

Sox has a habit (good or bad, you decide) of hiring someone in an area where they anticipate more work, then paying them. Then they get you to do several more, and when they dry up in a particular area that is where the payment issues begin, and you will find yourself on the other end of the spectrum, crying, they won't pay me, they won't answer my calls or emails, they don't answer the phone.

But you, Doglover, now have your so called 'history' and will fall prey to this as you have already decided that "there are many who just must be doing something wrong to not get paid because I got paid".

Thiis has happened to a great many =- sorry to say, you will not be the exception. Beware.

Right on the number -- That is their MO

There was one California notary on this board that was singing their praises for a while, then he had not posted for a long time. Checked up on him , and they quit paying when they owed him for 17 signings. That was quite some time ago, so I don't know if he has been paid. He still hasn't posted in a long time, so you know who you are, so if you read this, why don't you save others from your fate? Or if they actually paid, let us know also.

Of course, I always suspected people who were associated with SOX put trolls on some of the boards to sing their praises, but I have no actual proof so it is just my opinion. You aren't a troll, are you, Doglover? No link to your profile, so I am suspicious.

I think doglover is just a poor misguided soul.

I'll try to find SDNotary (I think?) who did a bunch for Sox...for awhile...

Glenn...was it...

SanDiegoCA

SDNotary was wrong. SanDiegoCA is who I was thinking of...he really said nice things about dirty Sox for awhile...but I think he got passed it.

Re: Glenn...was it...

No

I just checked. The person I was referring to is not listed on NR any longer and his phone is D/C. It's been a while since he had posted and I talked to him. He had a day job, so probably got out of the business when things tanked. He was located northwest of me, not south.

I think I remember that guy - wasn't he the one who insisted that you would always get paid if you just followed their procedures? They sure sucked him in...

I did work for them when I first started out, not knowing any better. I finally got paid all I was owed, but it took a lot of work on my part. Lesson learned, and a new business principle to hang on the wall: Never work harder to collect what you're owed than you do to earn it.

A new mantra Mike:

"Never work harder to collect what you're owed than you do to earn it."
I love it. . . so true! This goes hand in hand with: "It takes less time to do a thing right than to explain why you did it wrong." Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Any company where their accounts manager was issued an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court on one of their collection cases is no a company I would ever want to work with.

If it's still active, I don't know... it's just listed in the record for the court case, with nothing new in almost a year.

Not only that... but they have THE most ridiculous rules for invoicing. You can *only* send them your invoice between the 1st and the 5th of the month, using their form for ALL of the signings you did for them in the previous month... to be paid on the first business of the FOLLOWING month. So, if you did a signing on November 2nd, you wouldn't be allowed to bill them until December and you would get "paid" (hahahahaha) the first business day of January. They will NOT pay you at all if you use the wrong invoice form, don't fill out the form the way want it or don't send them the invoice during the specific window.

Seriously?

And if you contact the lender or TC about payment? They won't hire you again. Gee, that's too bad.

Probably the one I turned down. They called, and after I told them of the reputation on NR, they said they would increase my fee. Told them I could only work for them if there were at least 10 posts on NR from established members being paid what they are owed, and even then I would need payment in advance, and would need time for the check to clear. Said they would get back to me. Never did, but sounds like they found someone.

Re: Wow, that's telling!

I really can not believe they are still in business and that there are still notaries after all the warnings are taking orders from them. If they don't pay its your own fault. They called me twice on Monday. I spent months 2 yrs ago collecting 2k from them, then they have the nerve to call. I just laughed and hung up

Re: Wow, that's telling!

About three years ago me and my sister each worked for them (1 signing apiece) and when we couldn't get paid, I happen to go to San Diego to visit another sister and asked her how far away were they from her. I called their office, told them I was coming by personally to pick up my check and my sister's check - got them and never worked for them again. The invoices were about 4 months old. (the checks were good - much to my amazement).

I got patd by SOX too! After 1 1/2 yrs calling & faxing

almost non-stop (in spurts). I'd rather spend my time making money w/ reputable SS - NOT trying to collect from deadbeats!
