I have mine since Aug 2002. It's slow and the scanner never worked right. Now,I only use the copy and fax functions. However, Paul Williams (PAW) has one and he loves it. He takes good care of it and it works well for him.

Just to clarify ...
Paul Williams is a short, chubby singer, songwriter and actor. I, on the other hand, am Paul WilliamsON. I am an average height, chubby (prefer to be called husky) guy that can't carry a tune in a bucket, and can't keep a straight face except when playing poker.

Sorry, Paul A. Williamson. It was very early in the morning here in Phx. LOL!

I have one, also - not quite as old as Shoshana's. I had the same problem with the scanner and was recently having problems with the copy and fax functions (scanner bulb not warming up). I switched those to a different printer, although I still use the copy function once in a while. I sometimes have more than one printer going, so it is still in service after more than 170,000 copies! The other drawback to this printer is that the base model doesn't have more than 32 mb of memory, which can be a problem in some rare situations. It's also a discontinued model, so if you're looking at one, it's probably a refurb or used.

I have had one for several years, first as my primary printer but now I use it only for copying and scanning (which doe not work very well). I highly recommend the HP4050TN, a dual tray and fairly heavy duty printer---you can refill your own cartridges and you can get them fairly reasonable used. Good luck.
