NNA and LandSafe Title Co.
A broker with whom I've worked in the past informed me that he had to cancel my appointment with his borrower because the title company told him I am not on their "approved" list. I learned that LandSafe uses only notaries who are NNA members. When I became a notary in 2000 I joined the NNA, but let my membership lapse after seeing one too many of their "become a signing agent and make $xxx/year" ads after the market was saturated with newbies.
I'm not willing to give the NNA any more of my money and would like to hear what my fellow notaries think of this development.

You have a choice. Bite the bullet & support the NNA with your dollars--or not. I choose not to--and have discovered that you'll frequently get the signing anyway. And, the broker should speak up for himself, too.

That makes me furious. I'm so tired of XYZ's tactics to create a demand & then supply with money we've paid to join the organization. I will NOT be coerced into membership. IMO they just cut their throats. Many of us, when we get wise to their agenda, do not renew or give them any money. That "approved" list is a joke--we know that many who are certified & bgc are clueless when it comes to signings. BTW I am, or should say was (according to them) cert/bgc. I didn't get into the business because of them, but chose to be a member & thought I'd benefit from the training. Hahahehehe.

What's the saying, "screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me".
