Nations Direct
Got my first call today for a closing at 1:00p EST. Have not heard back after quoting my fee so I guess I was not the low bidder.

Got a call the other night to do closing same evening. Said not if you are going to offer me $60, she said well borrowers have the docs so actually we pay less on this one. I said Good Night.

...and if you do a closing for them (at a fee less than you normally charge), how about all the "baby-sitting" they do? Seems to me like they could save themselves a lot of time and hassle and money by hiring quality closers at a normal fee and let us do our jobs. Giving them the piece of mind to know we'll take care of it. And the fax backs!! I got so frustrated after one closing that I sent them the whole damn package! I figured if they want so much faxed in why waste my time sorting through it all. The old saying...you get what you pay for...and evidently they get the worst to have to do as much hand-holding as they do!

I got a call from last week, quoted them my fee; and a young lady with a pleading voice explained that they couldn't match my fee; could I possibly go lower. They really needed someone right away. I agreed to the job and a fee a bit lower then my norm. (don't judge me) So we've agreed on the fee, and I've listened to the whiney 'we can't pay more because we don't get much..., but we do pay on time..." I can practically hear the violins..
I get done with the job I'm on, get to my computer and check for the confirmation...nothing. Now note; I know this company does the 'I'll see if I can get it approved" thing. BUT missy and I had already set the time and fee.
There's no confirmation; I called and was told it either was cancelled or had been 'taken care of.'
Well little chicken sh**, you'd think someone would have called me to tell me! I drove 30 miles back to my office, instead of home and possibly a nice comfy evening!
My answer from now on will be no. Just NO.
I think it is extremely unproffessional of them to just leave the notary hangin'. I don't really care if there's another notary out there willing to go out after dark for less; have at it. But leave me hanging..I dont' think so.
Lesson learned.

I have had several calls this week with them too. First offer $50, I said sorry my fees are $. They said ok we will see if we can get it approved. No return call. I figure if they want it done right they will pay the fee. My co-worker that got me started doing this does the same thing.
They will hang up with me, her phone rings, same offer. We are holding tight at our fees since we are in a small town and only 2 other signing agents in town, let them take the low ball fee! We arent budging with them. Stick tight everyone, they will have to come up on the $$ if they need them signed that badly.
