OOPS!

After 10 yrs. of doing signings, I FORGOT my notary bag last night for a signing.
This is the first time I have done that, and I certainly hope it is the last.
Like going to work in your pajamas.
Geez.

"Like going to work in your pajamas"......LOL...too funny!!

I've found myself halfway to the signing thinking to myself "I *DID* put my pouch in my briefcase, didn't I??"....unnerving feeling....

Me too

But my great fear is to someday get to the closing before I realize that I still have my slippers on -- LOL. (I've made it as far as the porch before I've realized that I didn't slip my shoes on.)

I always carry my seal and journal with me

I have a large purse/briefcase combination and it goes with me everywhere.

I also have extra shoes in the car, brown and black, just in case I leave the house in the wrong type or color shoe, and a change of clothes too.

Yes, I was a Girl Scout years ago....

ME TOO!!! I thought I was the only person who was so "prepared". I guess that old Girl Scout training pays off.

I also keep an extra notary stamp in my locked glove box in my car. I always lock my car when I leave it.

Fran, I'd rethink this if I were you - just because you lock your car doesn't mean the car can't still be stolen - and there goes your notary stamp. Potential dangerous situation IMO

Re: I always carry my seal and journal with me

I really had not thought about that. My car is not a model anyone would want to steal and I always make sure I am not going to a seedy part of town. I just don't take those jobs but I will certainly rethink keeping mine in the glove department.

Re: OOPS! I can top that

I once left the house with one Brown and one Black shoe. Had to hit Payless for a new pair to do the closing.
Only happen one time (I hope!)

I've not done that yet... but I did manage to go to one having misplaced my thumbprinter pad. Luckily, I carry a spare in my trunk and I was going to excuse myself to get it. The borrower said, "Oh, no need for that..." and she got up and pulled out this HUGE bin of stamp pads that she uses for scrapbooking and such and we just used one her her black ink pads.

But, now I keep a spare thumbprinter in another pocket in my briefcase just in case.

I forgot my notary case for a signing last year. Had the docs and found two blue pens in the car so it was no problem. The funny thing was, I really missed the little rubber thing that you slide on your finger to get thru the docs easy. After that I always carry an extra one in the car.

I have pulled over on the freeway, to make sure I had my bag. Sometimes I am on auto-pilot, and can't recall if I really did something, because it comes so automatically!
