PDF files not opening
Can anyone walk me through a problem with pdf files not opening. It's going to Microsoft word. I have an HP Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. PDF files download and then I get an error message that says, "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations Control Panel".
Without pdf I'm dead in the water. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Have you downloaded the latest copy of Acrobat reader?
http://get.adobe.com/reader/
I'd do that right away, even if you think you have it...try reinstalling.
If that doesn't correct the problem, then you'll need to go in to your associations and tell your system to open PDF files with Reader... but a reinstall should fix that.

Thank you Marian, I did uninstall and re-install from Adobe website. It's still not working, even though I restarted the computer also. This is driving me crazy.

Have you installed the Adobe Reader software? You may need to reset the association for PDF files to open the reader, assuming it is installed.

How to associate your file to Acrobat...
Go to your Control Panel and use Classic View Click on Default Programs Click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program (it'll take a while to load the extensions) Then find .pdf If the .pdf is not associated with Adobe Acrobat Document, then click on Change Program in the upper right of the panel screen and select Adobe Acrobat

Re: Good going ladies, bravo to our techie heros.
Actually, you have no idea how these ladies saved me. I was going nuts. I called Marian and she walked me through the fix. How many people would do that for you. I am so very grateful for her kindness. It is so appreciated having the guru's here for us notaries.
Barbara then posted the fix that Marian walked me through. Within a couple minutes, Marian took away my three hour headache. I had no clue how to fix it.
Thank you so very much again!!
