Printer help please.
On Thursday my laptop ran out of battery during an update and got stuck. I had to restore the original settings.( I think that is what it is called.) Using Vista if that matters. So the computer is fine now but I dont know if it is a coincidence (sp) but I have been in printer hell all weekend. I cannot get my 1320 to work correctly now! Even when it is hooked up to my desktop which runs XP. Got it to actually print one package this weekend, but most of the time it prints 2-10 pages and then the error light starts blinking and it is printing on the wrong size paper. I have changed the outlet that I am printing from and it was not that. Tech at OD said it might be going out but it is just weird to have so many problems at once. It is about four years old but really did not want to buy another before Christmas!

Re: Try to reinstall it
If you have the CD that came with the printer use it to reinstall the printer.. Or you could try to up date the printer from the manufactures web site. Or you can try a system restore to an earlier day like Friday 11-20-9. Good Luck

Well, your printer problem has nothing to do
with your laptop running out of battery as it wasn't connected, right?
Before you do anything with the printer (unless you have already) have you tried printing something of a known quantity from your computer. If so, did it print correctly?
You did not say what type of file you were trying to print when the lights began blinking, but I am going to assume that it pdf. Sometimes the file can be corrupted at the source and it's not your problem.
So, you must try to print a known good pdf file first. If that works, then it's not your problem. If it doesn't then make sure you are updated to the latest adobe reader. Then make sure all the settings are correct in adobe before you print.
To see if you need to reload your printer drivers, print anything else from your computer that isn't a pdf file and uses a lot of memory like a webpage with a lot of photos.

Re: Well, your printer problem has nothing to do
The web page printed fine. First my green light flashes like it is going to print then the yellow light flashes and it does not print so I press the green go button and it did print the web page. I have not tried to print anything big yet. In researching previous posts I tried to do a reset on it but it does not have a reset button.
Thank you.

Re: Well, your printer problem has nothing to do
If it is just the pdf that doesn't print correctly, then that should be your answer. Take Riley's advice below. I have had to do that on occasion when the pdf wasn't created correctly on the other end.
Don't forget to clean your printer from time to time. I take mine outside and blow them out with compressed air on a regular basis. A tiny piece of paper can cause havoc. I also have my printers positioned so there is nothing above them that can fall in and cause a problem. Paper clips are hell.

Also,
Unplug the printer and leave it set for a while. That will reset it.
The first line of your post just sunk in. It does sound like your printer is dirty. A piece of paper, some toner dust, house dust could be blocking a sensor somewhere. Pull the trays, blow it out if you can or use a vacuum with a crevasse tool if you can.

If you are selecting "choose paper source by PDF paper size" you may have a problem printing some docs. Check the print preview. I had some docs in a package yesterday that were scanned to 10.1 X 14.3. The printer would show 'out of paper' everytime. I assuming it was because there is no tray for that size. When I pressed the GO button it would print on 81/2 X 11. I finally just went to all legal size. Hope this helps.
