Printer issue, Brother HL 5250DN
I need to print docs for a 6 pm and the printer is telling me it's out of paper. However, paper is fully loaded (both letter and legal) and I've turned off both the computer and the printer. I unplugged the printer and then plugged it back in. Still not working. I have an XP home OS and I've done a search, but can't find any answers for my particular situation. Please help. TIA

Can you print from the manual tray? If so, print a few pages of whatever then shutdown the printer completely, remove both trays, reinstall trays and restart printer.
Do you have any lights on the top of the printer on the far left? Can you press the big button several times in succession and does that start the printer printing a report?
Make sure that the paper is seated in the trays properly. Remove some of the paper and try printing again.
I hope one of these ideas helps. That's why I have multiple printers.

The light is red and the paper is out light keeps flashing. It won't print anything. I've tried pushing the go button with no results.

Have you removed the cartridge/drum until to check for a paper jam? If all else fails, call Brother tech support. It can't be too big an issue, or all the lights would be flashing.

There is one little issue that comes up from time to time. If the pdf file has an unusual size paper in it, the printer won't know what to do. If you press the "go" button on the top of the machine it will print to tray 1 (my tray 1 is letter). This usually comes up with payoff statements, etc. that have been faxed and then scanned into the doc package. I hope this works for you.

Mystery solved, thankfully. I went further into the machine and found, not 1 but 2 sheets of legal stuck way inside. Once I removed them, every thing seems to be working well again. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

I've found that most of the issues with the 5250 are quick fixes. I love it.

Yes, I would agree with you on that.

As if that wasn't enough, my toner decided to end in the middle of printing, but, yes, I had a replacement.

I need help using a Brother Laser printer 5250DN and Windows XP. It is a dual tray printer. I am trying to print a pdf using Adobe Reader but I can not print letter and legal automatically. The PC is hooked up to a Airport Extreme hub and so is the printer. I have legal size paper in tray 2 and letter size paper in tray 1. Brother tech support does not offer tech support with Adobe Reader. It is a great printer, but bought a second tray to print loan docs. If you know what your configuration settings are, please let me know. Is your Brother printer hooked up to a hub or directly to the computer? I installed the driver that came with the CD. Any help would be great
