So Cal Signings - payment

We often address non-payment issues on this forum but rarely mention the positives. I'd like to say I have recently completed five signings for SoCal, all different dates and the payments all arrived exactly 45 days from the signing day. I might add, no deduction in fees although I did make a couple of errors...

That's good to know, James. Very glad you received your funds!

For over 2 years, I did a lot of business with Lisa with no problems. Then, had a signing last November. After numerous emails and phone calls (excuses: check's been mailed, she just got back from China and trying to catch up, etc.), finally got her to pay me via Paypal in January (I ate the PP fee). Because of that one bad experience, I declined quite a number of signings from her during the year. October 12th, decided to giver her another try. November 12th is coming up next week. Guess I'll see if Lisa's back on the good track ....

You must be her favorite, James!

I've had to chase EVERY payment. I've got one from this summer that she continues to ignore - along with my e-mails and phone calls.

Re: You must be her favorite, James!

Sorry to here that. I don't think I'm her favorite though, I've had my rounds with her like others but have been able to make my point. Taking with someone to find out what the problem is must certainly leads to the solution. IMO

You are supposed to get paid! That's why most of us do this

That's the norm so why post here like you are surprised.

Obviously you are not aware of some of the problems our fellow notaries have been having lately, I was simply providing an update. Sorry if I woke you up.

45 days?

That's a ridiculous amount of time to wait for payment. She's had the funds over a month by that point.

Of course, by the comments here, that's "good" timing her. It is good to know you got paid, though.

Re: 45 days?

she states it up front, it up to you if you want to wait. I'm retired so it's not as urgent (not to say that I don't like getting paid-smile) as it is to some. I'm ok with that.

I was contacted by SoCal for a signing. It was for overnight docs. She said that she would mail the payment that day and I would get it the same day as the docs. I checked Notary Rotary and saw the mix reviews and was a little apprehensive. However, she did mail the payment and I received it the same day as the docs. Will I work for her again? The answer is yes. We all are subject to a low period in life. I think it is how we rebound from these times that count.

That's very good for you to step up/...I think if we mention the SS that do us right, it would have more of an impact then addressing the issue of slow pay/ none pay..

Let's make the SS want to be mentioned on this forum for performance instead of dogging them. We all know they got DOGS out there, but whose carrying the banner for the good guys?
We're keeping it a secret because they pay! That's not right.

I agree we should let our fellow notaries about the good as well as the bad, but
I sort of thought that was what rating the companies in Signing Central was all about?

I agree with you..I've just noticed that we appear hesitant about rating the companies either way IMO

Understand what you mean, but

*Let's make the SS want to be mentioned on this forum for performance instead of dogging them. *

I don't particularly care if they want to be mentioned here or not, or why. If they pay in a timely manner then they don't have any worries.

This is a notary forum for discussing notary issues, not a signing service endorsement forum.

Someone mentioned to me the other day that notaries seem to have a case of Stockholm Syndrome http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholm_syndrome when it comes to signing services...they tend to be loyal to, and to protect, their abusers and give them another chance...and so glad when they pay up in 45 to 90 or more days AFTER having to chase their money.

Not that YOU are this, Notarysigner...or that this pertains to SoCal...just that something is dreadfully wrong with a picture when notaries want to give documented abusers another chance...after chance...after chance. It's bizarre.

Reporting abusive non-paying SSs for their own choices and actions does not seem to be "dogging" an SS, but that's just my opinion. I'd be more concerned about warning other notaries of possible poor payment history than whether or not an SS who is slow or no pay felt "dogged".

Re: Understand what you mean, but

I agree with this post. It is not "dogging" anyone to call them out for non-payment.

I just can not believe that people still work for these companies. I have received 2 calls from SOX in the past 2 weeks. I just could not believe my ears when they introduced themselves. I was shocked and very quickly told them "I do not work for your company".

Quoted from Susan Powters "stop the insanity" people!!!

Re: Understand what you mean, but

I don't disagree with the both of you, my point was to "attempt" to be positive. I've had my issues with SS but have been successful (except for one) in working things out with them. Endorsements belong in the rating section yes, again I was just providing an update to a previous post. IMO
